George Washington is important and significant, but there's no real detail to this book. It was like a really long Wikipedia article. A little dumbed down even if it is for kids. My 3rd grader is super interested in the Revolutionary War but this book had very little he didn't already know.
Get introduced to George Washington in this factual book all about him! There are so many new things you will learn in this book. It tells of Georges hardships and of how he came to be the first president of The United States of America. George was always truthful, uplifting, inspiring, and above all, noble. He represented our country well during the time he served as our president.
This was a great read to a 1st-2nd grader. It was simple enough but contained enough history that it makes me want to get others in the series. The chapters were broken up nicely. I recommend this book.
I read this to my son Connor for homeschooling. When he gets to be a better reader I think I will have him read it to me.The words are easy for the most part and he likes our first president so much he wants to change his name to George Washington!!
Very fast read to give you an overall idea of George Washington. Terms are rather generalized and catered to a younger audience. Statements like Washington was not afraid he was brave (we, of course, don't know whether he was afraid or not), and "the Indians" not specifying which tribes were involved in the French and Indian War.
Went through 2 boxes of books that my brother had put in 109 Attic. This was a children's book. A VERY east short read but was very interesting. Had some VERY nice illustrations. I have one box ready to take to the Corbit Calloway Library for a donation.
I was and always have been a book nerd. I remember laying out all my Step Up books on the floor in my childhood bedroom, and deciding which one I would read next. I think Meet George Washington was one of my earliest choices from the history selections, just because he is one of the fist historical characters every child learns about, and he was familiar to me. Just looking at the cover photos from these old books brings back such happy memories for me!
