High Five is another quirky, often humorous mystery that features bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. In this book, Stephanie's Uncle Fred has gone missing, and her family thinks that she is just the one to find him. Uncle Fred's disappearance takes a sinister turn when his desk reveals photos of body parts. As Stephanie tries to find out what happened to him, several people she interview turn up dead and she must work to find out who is behind the murders. Stephanie's life is comlicated in this book by her attraction to two men in her life - her sexy sometimes cop boyfriend Joe Morelli, and her mysterious work associate Ranger. High Five was a very fast-paced, entertaining book.

I was walking around Barnes and Noble book hunting when I came across a yellow book with a colorful title. It reminded me of the 80's and I love 80's-like colors.

I started reading the 1st page without looking at its premise and was already hooked on Stephanie Plum's explanation on how she was much like Barbie without pants. I remembered looking at Barbie dolls as a kid, in the 80's! So I bought the book.

80's color theme plus Barbie equals 80's for the win.

Oh, and Evanovich's narrative style is way too addicting. I think its a bit better than Dean Koontz. Yeah I said it. I MIGHT read his "Good Guy" or the "Darkest Evening of the Year," but we'll see.

I am still totally loving this series - it's so clever, expanding the cast of characters nutty and clever plots.

Number 5 in the ongoing saga or Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plumb series- and this story was very cute, and funny- all because mostly of Stephanie's Grandma Mazur! It was a fast and fun read.

For those of you , who just landed from another planet- far, far away- this is a great series to pick up- I suggest from book one "One for the Money" being that I'm only on number 5 , I don't know when I get fed up with any of these books- but so far , so good.

I pick up these books after I read a psycho, serial killer, body dismemberment type of books that gives you the heebie jeebies and I want to read something light, cute, sassy, funny and a giggle here and there!

The unfortunate thing about this audio book was that it was the abridged version. No unabridged was available.

The book is 2hr + long. Considering the unabridged would be around 6-8 hours, just goes to show you how much nonsense is in the entire book that can be cut out.

However, the narrator. I recognize her voice as an actress who plays the roommate to Liza on Younger. She's a great actress, but the narration wasn't good. She spoke way to fast and her words were linked together making it hard to follow.

I felt like I really missed out on a lot of details, including why Joe and Terri had been together. I can't remember if that was in this book or the previous as I listened to them back to back.

I might have given up as all the romance progress from last book evaporated in this one. I don't need romance. But I don't like Stephanie. She's stupid and hasn't grown as a character in five books. So the only thing keeping me listening is the little romance.

If not for the cliffy at the end of the book, I wouldn't have moved on. But I have to know.

Nice job, Janet!

The Bombshell Bounty Hunter does it again, along with the usual cast of characters! These books are such a fun guilty pleasure...

Meh. It was okay. It was a short audiobook so that was nice! I think I was just bored because it’s the same stuff that’s happened in previous books and really not much has changed or advanced from the original plot. It did end on a good cliffhanger. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series yet.

Skimming and Parole Violations

Oh dear Lord! How does she manage to get herself into these things? Stephanie Plum again finds herself in the thick of lunacy that she contributes to directly and indirectly.

My head continues to spin from that final scene. Even so, I really enjoyed all of the wacky events. The aid of Grandma Mazur and Lula always adds to the entertainment value, but Stephanie also finds herself with an unusual roomie. THAT was... comical to say the least.

I borrowed a copy of the audio book. The narrator is CJ Critt, who continues to do a great job with Stephanie.

High Five (Stephanie Plum #5) by Janet Evanovich

Synopsis /

Stephanie Plum has a whole lot of trouble on her doorstep.

Her Uncle Fred has disappeared, and Grandma Mazur is convinced he's been abducted by aliens.

Meanwhile, Cousin Vinnie has asked her to bring in the vertically challenged Randy Briggs who's jumped bail. But instead of coming quietly, he has taken up residence in Stephanie's closet. The mysterious man called Bunchy is trailing Stephanie in the hope of tracking down Fred. And Benito Ramirez is back from jail, quoting Scripture and vowing to introduce Stephanie to God - face to face.

Thankfully Joe Morelli, the irresistible cop, is still around to give her the odd sleepless night - though now he faces tough competition from the enigmatic Ranger.
