Not to crazy about this book. It really had no plot, the characters were fake and everything about the book felt forced. It was just a romance story with no other storyline and the kind of book where the people are making out by page 5. Nothing interesting about it at all.

Sigh. I hated it, and I hate not finishing books, but I don't think I can or will finish this one. It hasn't even gotten to Thanksgiving, which is the whole reason I wanted to read this book (been going through a rough time, needed something cute and light and fluffy and holiday themed), but it's kind of torture reading this.... I don't mean to be catty or snobby, but as the author is apparently a best selling author, I expected so much better. The characters and their thoughts and dialogue were incredibly cheesy and juvenile. The writing is stilted and doesn't flow well. The POV switches from one paragraph to the next and it's honestly difficult sometimes to distinguish whose POV it is (if it weren't for the use of their names, gendered pronouns you probably couldn't tell at all, their voices aren't different at all). As for the plot, it was just... bad. You'd think the whole bunny thing would be enough to bring them together, but suddenly there's a baby involved? And there's a misunderstanding with Patrick thinking Megan went upstairs and didn't come back down because she wants him to come up and have sex with her, which is stupid in itself, but then he goes up and finds her sleeping and he still thinks that was her plan? What? Who thinks like this? Who acts like this? Not to mention, Megan seems to switch moods awfully quickly, and it's even mentioned, but it's so unrealistic and just... ugh. Idk, maybe I shouldn't have gone off from reading a bunch of Jane Austen to reading chick lit, but I expected better from a best selling author, and considering I HAVE read very good chick lit before (and in fact had been reading a Jennifer Crusie book at the same time as I read Jane Austen) I didn't think it'd be an issue. I'm not sure I'm going to give the Stephanie Plum series a shot anymore, even though I had been waiting for a digital copy via the library. I'm extremely disappointed, as I was hoping to find another chick lit author I enjoyed as much as Jennifer Crusie and Sophie Kinsella (to read something light while I read heavier material), but I guess I'm still SOL.

I make two commutes these days, so I decided to try listening to audio books as a way to distract me on the boring often-slow drive into work. I chose this Janet Evanovich book specifically because it was fluff and it would be okay if I didn't catch 100%.

Other than the description of Williamsburg, VA, this book is terrible. Here are just some of my complaints (and I made it just shy of finishing the second CD so I was just about at the halfway mark when I called it quits):

1. No one calls anyone by their full name that often. I felt like once a track (which were each 3 minutes-ish long), one of the leads would refer to the other lead by their two names.

2. Speaking of names, please decide to call Patrick "Patrick" or "Pat." I doubt he goes by both, and I much prefer the former.

3. The inner monologues by both Patrick and Megan were ridiculous. After a day, he thinks he's falling in love with Megan. And then all the thoughts she has about being a spinster at 27 years old is completely ridiculous. (Not to mention that she's apparently been engaged twice by this point - but she's sworn off marriage. Other than her beauty, I'm not sure why Patrick, a new-in-town handsome pediatrician who just finished his residency, is interested in her - she doesn't know how to cook, doesn't know what the word "strumpet" means and works 3 part-time jobs.)

4. Also, I don't know how to cook very well, but I wouldn't have chicken soup and bagels/cream cheese for dinner. Please. Also how is Megan so skinny if all she eats is PB&J sandwiches?

5. The narrator drove me crazy. She spoke Patrick's lines deeply and seriously, and I honestly think he was written to be more jokey/fun.

6. At one point, Megan goes upstairs to get something and then accidentally falls asleep (because she's not actually a grown up, and and she can't stay awake at 530am apparently). Patrick thinks this is an invitation to go to her bedroom and make out with her. That is NOT okay. (Reminders of that creepy scene in Twilight come back to haunt me.)

7. The book is called Thanksgiving and mentions both sets of parents, but I have yet to meet them in the book and it's halfway. Let's face it, this is mostly drivel about two people hooking up.

Anyway, those are my complaints, but I'm probably not this book's target audience.

I usually like Janet Evanovich's books. They are quick, fun reads, but about mid-way in, this book took a turn for the worst. My feelings for the lead female character in this book turned to disgust when she pretty much wanted to get pregnant to trap the male character. Usually Evanovich's books make you want to cheer the couple on, but this book made me want to scream to the male character to turn and run away as fast as he could. This was not a cute little romance, this was crazy immature obsession.

Like it was written by a 12 year-old who wants to play house with their crush. Couldn’t do it.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. It was cute and quirky and easy to read. I laughed out loud a couple times, enjoyed the romance, surprises and the holiday aspect. Unfortunately at around 60% it seemed almost like it was trying to hard to be funny and quirky and I lost some interest. I would still recommend it for a quick holiday read though!

At first I wasn't sure I would like this book. It was so cheesy & goofy. But then I decided to just accept the book for what it was written for. Let's face it--it won't challenge anyone intellectually. It was written for fun. It was written to make you smile. The characters were funny. Some of their dialogue was over the top. The story was a little unbelievable. But all in all, a cute read.

This was a fun, heartwarming romance set in Williamsburg during the Thanksgiving season.

This was another one of JE's older books. It was a cute, fast, and fun read. It is always interesting to me to see how the writing style of an author matures and grows. In this book her wonderful sense of humor and love for food is a great element which she includes in her current novels.

This awesome story is laugh out loud good!

Megan, Patrick and his rabbit are great together until their families arrive and begin meddling in their lives.

Thanksgiving dinner reveals so much about every family member and reminds us that no one is perfect and to extend some compassion to your fellow human beings.

However, this great story was moving right along and then it abruptly ends???

Listened to this and didn't love the narrator. To be fair, I'm not a fan of romance and am a big fan of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and was expecting something more like that.
