Definitely having reactions to Sarah that reflect how I feel about myself and my relationship with God, especially the way I judge other people. This book has been eye opening and convicting in a very good way!

Great book by Kay Arthur. Based on biblical history. I don't usually like fiction, but enjoyed this historical fiction book. You really have to know your Bible to follow along. It is the history of the Hebrew people.

Outstanding! She weaves together every prophecy into a love story.

A story of Israel's history from Biblical times through the granting of their state independence. I was surprised to learn that there is a longer list of anti semitism in the country's history, from many different countries, that I was aware of.

This was a well researched book and I learned a lot from it. Kay Arthur certainly took on a challenge when she chose to personify Israel. For those of us familiar with prophecy and the historical timelines of the Bible this was a wonderful read. However, I felt that it would be confusing to anyone who did not understand the artistic license that she used when she jumped from century to century, picking and choosing what to dwell on and what to overlook.
The scope of this book was simply too large. An ambitious project that somehow did not fully come together as I would have liked. I suppose if she had been systematic at dealing with the history we would have a tome larger than even the Bible!
Israel, My Beloved, taught me much I did not know, but left me feeling like I was also denied a lot that I was curious about.

Great great look at Israel, by way of making her a woman named Sarah and how she strayed from her husband (the Almighty) and how eventually their relationship was restored when Jesus came back to make the world right. not much more I can said that hasn't already been said, except this is a must read for all of God's people.

Book of symbolism deep in Jewish history. Definitely not my normal genre choice. It took some time to read, but I’m glad I did.

One of my favorite books ever! It is so beautiful and moving. The author personifies Israel as a wandering woman and takes her throughout the history of Israel so it is very interesting and makes you think outside of the box. Very inspiring and I learned so much about the Israel's history and gave me a love for them. A story about the Lord's unconditional love and faithfulness. (Note: This book is a little hard to get into in the beginning, but I'm so glad I stuck with it!)

The 1st person look at the history of Israel...I loved it the 1st time I read it almost 20 years ago and I'm looking forward to reading it again now that I've done more study of the Old Testament.

I had forgotten that I read this long ago until a friend was talking about it today. Mishelle, have you read this?

I read this in 1999 as a born again Christian while on a tour of Israel with a reform synagogue and found the narrative massively helpful in stitching together the centuries of history. I had previously understood "Israel" in Scripture to mean you and me; as such, the personification of Israel through Sarah was compelling.

Good read and a lot of history but it was really long and drawn out a bit too much.
