Another good, atmospheric, but easy, read in the Cadfael series. As always with these books the characters and setting are really brought to life. If you like one Cadfael novel I think that you'd probably like them all. Overall a good solid mystery.

Another medieval mystery full of poignant characters and scenery porn. I especially like the way women are characterized and treated in this. I also loved Brother Anselmo, so hopeful that Liliwin might take vows and so sing in his choir!

I remember the previous book I read from this series wasn't very special but I really enjoyed this one. It has many possible suspects and I didn't guess the killer or the motive. The atmosphere of old times is very well presented in this book too. Probably there were a bit too many relationship details but it also turned out to be important in the end.

Just as good as The Leper of St. Giles. Again there's a love story, in fact there are two, and the second will surprise you. The conflicts and alliances within the family of a miserly goldsmith provide the dramatic tension, as Cadfael is drawn into relationship with the young ragged jongleur/minstrel who has been accused of stealing the goldsmith's hoard.
I won't go into more detail. This one is not to be missed.
