No illustrations, limericks only

The wonderful drawings are not here nor are the big poems. What is this book without The Owl and th

This book was such a fun, goofy read! Highly recommend you read it if you feel stressed in life right now.

I vaguely recall Edward Lear from primary school, with The Owl & The Pussycat and whatnot, being quite amusing. Alas, any good bits are omitted from this book which is about as dire as it could possibly be. The limericks chosen here are just mad, unfunny and a few of which don't even rhyme properly. The illustrations make some amends but not enough, even for the silliest of kids. 0.25 for the content, 1 for the illustrations (which must've taken ages to draw). I only paid 20p for it which was about 18p too much. 1.25/5

Edward Lear's "Book of Nonsense" is a book about old men from random places who do random shit for no reason. It is the single greatest book ever written and you should read it now and die. If me and Steven Quartz Universe were on a desert island and had this book, we would fuck each other a lot. Frank Zappa says read this book.

This collection of 112 silly limericks (so a short book). The limericks in general rhyme the last line with the first two by reusing the last words and so are a bit repetitive and flat. The limericks are inoffensive and silly, not the sort of ribaldry one might normally associate them with.

I notice the introduction to the book mentions drawings, but the ebook I read displayed none on my ereader. It is a Gutenberg ebook (i.e. free) and so worth every penny I paid for it.

Magnificent! I just love how it's a fast read. It also shows how someone, if they try, can discover and use different words from the norm. I was just amazed at the many, less or hardly ever used, words were placed in this artwork.

Published by some outfit called Feather Trail Press, with no introduction or notes about the edition, not even a publishing city noted, left me with little confidence that this edition of Mr. Lear's book is at all representative of his original work--I simply don't know. What I do know is that the centre alignment of the poems and the sans-serif font made the whole thing feel rather amateurish.

I don’t know what was original about this set of pens/songs. Obviously for children, but even then who wants to listen to 100 variations of “there was a man/lady from ____” who did something and then either died or went back to that place (or never went back). Weird obsession with long noses.

Clearly not a fan of limericks, so take with a grain of salt.
