This is the most famous and massively quoted speech of Abraham Lincoln. In this speech, he talked much about slavery in the United States of America and inequal treatment to the black community of the USA. He did also shed light on the role of Congress which reluctantly pass resolutions that promote equality among the citizens of the USA. He criticized the Congressmen because they were divided themselves on the issue of equal rights to all citizens irrespective of their race or color or religion. He believed such divisions could harm the unity among the people of a country and make a country vulnerable to collapse.

Literally the address

I was somewhat surprised that this book consisted of only the Gettysburg address. I thought it would have been much more about the history which lead to the address.. So short was it that it can hardly be called a book

Every American should read and know this momentous speech. During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln gave this speech while dedicating the cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to the soldiers that died there. Lincoln was incorrect in his stated assumption that no one would remember what he said that day long after the events occurred.

It is probably for the best that this was not intended to be a lasting piece of American political history. I think the Gettysburg Address works so well because it is short, concise, and heartfeltly tries to address the tragic moments of its initial deliverance. It is a great snapshot of that war, and captures the uncertainty of its resolution.

I listened to the 2 minute-long free version available on Audible, which is narrated by Ryan Vincent Anderson and is delivered so well. I think the version or others like it can add value to how we engage with history and continue to think about the past today. Of course, you can find the text of the speech for free online with a quick Internet search. I recommend everyone read this; and recommend those who read this for school to re-read this.

One of my goals for the next year is to read one of the great biographies of this renown President.

This book is filled with the exact words President Ab Lincoln said when he wrote the Gettysburg address and it is something extremely powerful and interesting to have read. I also love how the person who illustrated it put so much detail into the pictures. They are extremely beautiful and have rare emotions behind every page.

Lincoln's honouring of the dead at Gettysburg. His speech was profound he had a humbleness and empathy within it showing how good of a public speaker he was.Interesting to see the ideas of liberal nationalism in it.Odd seeing people link trump with lincoln

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this
continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

“The world will little note nor remember what we say here, but it can never forget what we did here”

I really liked this book. This book is basically just the Gettysburg address in picture book form. The thing I liked was its amazing illustrations. The thing I didn't like is that it doesn't describe things like how did the Gettysburg address impact America or other facts about the Gettysburg address but a pretty good book.

I appreciate the simplicity and profundity of this speech. Precise and iconic and I enjoyed Lincoln’s word choice and how poetic it came off

Speech President Abraham Lincoln gave was the Gettysburg Address. Battle during the civil war between the North and South. Lincoln wanted to end slavery and the south did not. The north had won and Lincoln was nominated for his 2nd term of presidency. By late 1700s Northern states were abolishing slavery. Pennsylvania was the first. The civil war was one of the bloodiest wars losing over 1 million American men.

I would recommend this book for the middle grades, fourth through sixth grade. I would categorize it as informational nonfiction.

This book has amazing illustrations. I love looking at Abraham Lincoln! I think the students would really enjoy reading a book if they knew that a previous president actually wrote it! It makes nonfiction books a lot more interesting. It's important to teach the students about our history, and inform them about Abraham Lincoln. I don’t think that many students will be super excited to read a nonfiction book, but they would definitely prefer it over their social studies text book.
