I really enjoyed this book. Lalu (Polly) was an amazing woman and I'm glad to have read this book because had I not, I would have unfortunately never heard of her.

This book was just okay. Interesting story of a woman brought from China to California (and then to Idaho) during the gold rush era. The writing was juvenile, but the story kept interest.

Loved the first third but then it got really slow for me.
