I love Bob Newhart and have since, as a child, I laid in bed and listened to my parents and their friends playing his first album. Luckily they laughed out loud so I didn't have to stifle my giggles too much. I have loved his acting as well, so many wonderful roles, and hilarious appearances on Johnny Carson and other talk shows. My daughter gifted me the audio book. I am not a listener, I am a reader, but it wouldn't have been as wonderful without his voice telling the stories, making me biggie again. This time a grandmother.

I like Bob Newhart. This book had some interesting stories and I learned several things that I didn't know about him. I think the audiobook would be a better choice since there are several of his routines in this book. I think Bob underestimates how much his deadpan delivery contributes to the funniness of his act.

At one point Newhart breaks down Laurel & Hardy's comedy in a throwaway line: They would tell you what they were going to do, do it, then explain it.

At the conclusion of the autobiography is three pages probably contributed by an editor that summarize the facts presented while leaving out all anecdotal information. In a life story that name dropped Tom Hanks while not mentioning Peter Scolari - I couldn't help but smile at the revelation that the second Librarian film would be premiering on TNT in December 2006.

Hi Bob! Bob Newhart has always been one of my favorite comedians, namely because of his second sitcom. His autobiography is a quick and entertaining read filled with how he wrote his material, anecdotes of getting into comedy, and all the funny things that happened along the way. For any fan, this is a great easy read.
