A phenomenal piece of drama. Poetic, complex, heartbreaking, and at times triumphant. The play’s exploration of race, class, sex, and love is unparalleled in mid-20th century drama. Hansberry is a true craftsperson, and Raisin’s characters are some of the great figures in American dramatic history. Highly recommend reading!

Mama slapped Walter. He deserved it after he spent all that money investing it in the liquior store. I like how this book opens a window in to the other side of reality, how people really live. Not everything is glam and money and rich people but also how difficult and what people have to go through to achieve that dream.
