My Review: This was a great ending to the Traveling Pants series! The four girls spend most of their time apart since they are in college, working and other things get in the way. I'm kind of glad they left the girls lives to your imagination rather than saying 15 years later, this is what happened to them.

Mucha tristeza.

The first book in this series (along with the movie) is so ingrained in my heart that I think I’m blinded to the faults. I just love it so much and it’s such a huge part of my teenage years.

However the series, when read objectively, just doesn’t hold up over time. The writing is so simplistic and the author just doesn’t do a good job of showing the reader anything that’s going on. There’s a lot happening in this book that should pack a punch and make me feel emotions, but the writing is so one dimensional and flat.

I feel like I’m giving this four stars for the characters that have been created over the course of this series and for Ann Brashare’s compelling writing. I seriously can’t put down books in this series once I start. But I do feel like I highlighted less in this “last” installment (not including the 5th and Final which came later). I felt a disconnect for Bridget’s storyline and she made some choices that frustrated me but not in a typical character-growth kind of way. And Carmen’s plot felt recycled from the second book but done worse, and felt so out of character for her. I felt a bit of an estrangement to Lena and Tibby’s plots as well though they felt like normal young college-aged growing pains rather than coming completely out of left field. I’m eager to know what I’m going to feel when I re-read the final 5th book because I don’t remember my true feelings on it.
