John Grisham is a favorite suspense author because he writes succinctly and develops the plot beautifully.

Very interesting book, kept me intrigued and interested until about the last chapter. It seems to be a theme with Grisham's books they always kind of let me down in the end. The other one I can think of that did this was The Broker and The Associate. All in all, I recommend it!

This was my first John Grisham book and I enjoyed it. From the blurb, I'd expected it to be a fast-paced thriller but the story played out differently. It is the story of a community shaken by a brutal crime, their eventual amnesia and a corrupt legal system. Also, it is the story of the town as its people, where young men are forced to serve in meaningless wars, where the setting up of a Walmart like shopping complex leads to the shutting down of small local enterprises, a town slowly bridging the racial divide. The thing that stands out about the book despite its lack of suspense, is the narrative by Willie Traynor, the editor of the local newspaper. Candid and subtly laced with humor, the narrative is engaging. Even without the usual plot twists expected in a thriller novel, it manages to create the atmosphere of ominous dread of the entire town, not to mention the reader, when Danny Padgitt is released on parole. All in all, not a racy page turner but a good read!

I love this return to Ford County. You have many of the characters being reintroduced. As his usual, Grisham develops his characters well. You will love the newspaperman and an adorable Black woman that will steal your heart. We have a rape and murder trial. While all of that was good writing, the best is saved for the ending. It is absolutely brilliant. I could handle more of Ford County.

A jury put him behind bars. He’s now out of prison and out for revenge on the people who wronged him-the jury.

This is a very fast paced book by one of the greatest writers of legal thrillers. I am alway on the edge of my seat.

I kept alternating between liking and disliking each chapter. Just wasn't consistent enough for me to enjoy it.
Not a particularly challenging read but subject matter meant I had to concentrate.

Υπέροχη ηθογραφία και σχεδόν καθόλου νομικές λεπτομέρειες. Όπως πάντα απολαυστικός και αγαπημένος.

Grisham is surely one of the best contemporary writers, as his books are attractive even when there are not top class.
That's the case with The Last Juror, interesting, easy (as usual...) to read, though the plot is less dynamic and the final twist (the identity of the serial jurors murderer) is not so spectacular. You remain with the pleasure of reading and the idea of liking to be one of his main characters, Willie, for example...

Ah, Grisham. How I love thee. Here's the ways: 1) The right amount and type of details. I tried to stretch and read an Agatha Christie instead, but bailed. Christie packs in too many characters and too little detail. 2) The balance of human interest vs. moving the plot forward. 3) The inherent civics lesson incorporated within. 4) The same rush as watching an intelligent thriller.
