Great insights on this great, but not perfect, leaders. Everyone has their flaws but I witnessed this man unite the country in a time when nuclear war was a very real threat. He talked the talk but also put the US in a position of strength where it should be as a world leader. Reagan was called the Great Communicator for a reason and this book details how he progressed through his life and Hollywood first as an actor and leading the Actors Guild. He built presentation skills and developed his keen sense of timing over the years and really connected with his audience. These skills forged his backbone and he was steadfast in his democratic ideals.

A wonderfully written biographical defense of Reagan's presidency. D'Souza is fair and includes both Reagan's blunders and achievements. This is a good book to recap Reagan's own autobiography, An American Life. It is much shorter and leaves out a lot of details. The book is also replete with Reagan's witticisms and D'Souza's own humor. A must read for any Reaganite, or a gift to those other folks...

Excellent biography of Reagan focusing on his presidency. D'Souza clearly summarizes the arguments made by Reagan and by the Democrats and media who opposed him. The epilogue was somewhat dyspeptic, but the book is effective in explaining Reagan's leadership style, as well as his greatest challenges, successes, and failures.

A conservative's look, not always flattering, at the Reagan presidency; and how Reagan should be considered a hero.

I'm glad that I made the time to finish this book. What an extraordinary man at an extraordinary time in history. We'll never know how different our world would be had JFK not been assassinated. I'm glad that Reagan survived the same attempt on his life. As I travel the world I can now see the difference Reagan made in hindsight.

Transcends beyond partisan political rhetoric and eloquently details Reagan’s ingenuity as POTUS. Truly worth the read, as it examines the American System in a refreshing light

Reagan literally drew stars around my scars
