Very educational. I learned how hard it is to be president and how much stress he was under. I admire President Reagan for sticking to his principles despite all the opposition he faced. He was a great one.
A true patriot.

After doing lots of family history, it felt a little weird to read about someone not related to me. The section where he's just starting to get politically active is fascinating.

I would recommend the first half of this book to any American, especially those who weren't adults during the 80's. There were some fascinating facts about the state of our government and economy. It also made me appreciate how hard it would be to be President of the United States. I don't see how anyone could be prepared or qualified to do a job as varied and as important as this one.
The second half of the book is pretty boring for someone not terribly interested in Iran Contra or nuclear arms reduction. It was still informative, but not exactly a page-turner.

Ronald Reagan is a talented storyteller in this Biography starting from his childhood and through his presidency. His stories relate to the reader how his life and certain steps or experiences influenced his opinions later. Although much of his presidency is business, Reagan's humorous account brings to life a topic that many may find dull. Through this book, I obtained a deep appreciation for politics and political figures.

Just finished reading this book. I found the first three parts of the book really engaging. President Reagan has a way of keeping you engaged through his narrative. The last part of the book became hard to read and dry as he published a lot of personal letters and speeches instead of his interpretation of the events. I wish he would have mentioned more (or anything) about his decision to grant amnesty to the undocumented immigrants- it is a subject I was intrigued about his reasonings as it is such a major topic of debate today.

I wanted to read this book after visiting the Reagan library. It taught me much about the history of the world and US post-WWII, the differences in values between communism and capitalism, and how close the world could have gotten to nuclear warfare.

The first half was an easier read. The second half, detailing some major events of the presidency, got repetitive to me. Overall, though it was a long book, it was a helpful one.

I really enjoyed Ronald Reagan's autobiography. I was hoping for more political details, but it mainly focused on some of his early life and his experiences as president. President Reagan dedicated a lot of time to his relationship with the head of the USSR. It was interesting to hear about his interactions with the premier of the Soviet Union. I recommend this book to those interesting in learning more about Reagan's presidency. The audiobook is read by President Reagan himself.

This is an amazinf memoir by one of America's greatest Presidents. So much insight and wisdom. In reading this, I can see similarities between the Reagan approach to revitalizing the economy, to the actions of Donald Trump. The USA revitaliation of the 1980's was driven by Reagan policies, against a whole host of nay sayers in the media and Congress. The same is occuring since 2016 in under the Trump Presidency. Although the current President is not as eloquent as Reagan was, his efforts to take the message directly to the American people has been an effective tool against the establishment what wants big Government.
Overall a brilliant book, and I am so happy I finally took time to read it. It reminded me of all that is good in our country and that we should be proud to be Americans.

This is a must read, especially in these troubled times. Life as we know it today might not have been possible without this “actor” President, and the nation should be grateful. Our current leaders could learn a lesson or two from him, not least of which would be humility.

Reagan is a great storyteller so this book is easy to read. I was a little annoyed in the first part of the book by how he just dismissed various Democratic leaders as "just another tax and spend liberal." I find these kinds of labels (from both parties) to be unhelpful and would have appreciated his unique insight into people's personalities. The discussion of foreign leaders, particularly the different Soviet leaders, and the thinking and strategy as it related to the growing terrorist threat and nuclear disarmament was very interesting.

Audible Credit 3 hours Narrated by Ronald Reagan (5)
Abridged audiobook

Wonderful to hear Reagan relate some of the experiences of his life from childhood to his presidency. It was especially poignant to hear of assassination attempt on his life and how it affected him. Oh, how he loved Nancy!
