I kept thinking this book leading up to something to make it great. Maybe Icy would turn into a frog, or mabye there was a past trauma leading to her ticks. Would something bad happen to Miss Emily due to her immense weight (which is mentioned every single time she is in the story). No, nothing happens.

My main isses: The story seemed pointless. The middle section didn't fit. The ending was frustrating. It seemed to say "Just find God and all of your problems are solved!"

I'm so close to the end, but I can't finish it. I literally have only 11 pages left, but I cannot and will not open the book again.

You know, it's sort of sad. I was really enjoying the book up until 20 pages ago.

This is the story of Icy Sparks, a girl in rural Kentucky who is afflicted with diagnosed Tourette's Syndrome. The story is interesting and sad and I was attached to the characters.

Until they decided to go all Jesus freak.

I'm not opposed to reading Christian literature. Sometimes I even like it. But for the last 30 pages to all of the sudden be spouting fundamental Christianity? I'll pass.

Hill kid in 50s Kentucky with Tourette's syndrome. Gotta figure this will have some lessons in it somewhere! Is that a twitch or just a southern church service?? :-)
