How strong is the pull of love? Even when it's based on a childhood romance that didn't have the benefit of maturity of choice? March goes back home with her 15 yr old daughter for a funeral and meets her childhood lover only to fall back into a relationship with a dangerous man. She puts aside her marriage, daughter, friends to again be involved with this man, oblivious to his obvious and dangerous flaws. He also has kept her in his heart all these years but he's a bitter man who never came to peace with his troublesome youth. March's brother Alan-known now by all as The Coward-is also so buried in his past and the loss of his beloved wife. He forsakes his son and his life to live alone in a broken down cabin in his alcoholic haze. Their children meet and fall in love before knowing they are first cousins. Too many secrets and false emotions may destroy yet another generation.

hallmark but with a twist

Fico a meio caminho nas estrelas dadas a este livro porque nem sei bem o que pensar dele.
Gostei das sensações e das questões emocionais com que as personagens lidam mas a história em si não é lá muito agradável de ler.
Parece também ser um dado adquirido que há aqui uma espécie de adaptação a tempos modernos do clássico Monte dos Vendavais. As comparações são inevitáveis, as pistas bem óbvias, mas há detalhes do clássico que não me parecem ter resultado assim tão bem numa versão contemporânea.

Ainda assim, deu para ficar com um ideia do estilo da autora mas pensando só neste livro admito que não iria procurar de propósito outra obra dela.
Sei por outras opiniões que ela terá livros melhor conseguidos, por isso vou investigar e um dia ler outro para comparar.

It was a good book and I found my self understanding the teenager better than the mother. I found myself getting irritated with the mother.
