Okay....3.5 stars. Don't kill me Dark Tower-ites....especially those who looooove this book. BUT, this book was way too long.

To start, I LOVED The Waste Lands, so I was really excited to get into Wizard and Glass because of the cliffhanger at the end of TWL. This fourth installment started of well. Then, unfortunately, I really thought the middle, or the back-story of Roland was tedious, migraine-inducing, and quite unnecessary. It started off interesting, then, I found myself bored, missing the ka-tet, and where it took me an hour to read a page......

Then, I found myself not wanting to read the book at all.

I also found myself missing Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake, and Oy. And wanting to know what ultimately happens. So for my interest and desire, I decided to do something I have NEVER done before....Skip ahead.

Now before anyone gives me any grief over this, please understand. I tried. I really tried to read Roland's past. It was just boring and as previously stated, tedious. For me, it didn't add anything to the main story. I feel as though King could have approached this part in a different, MUCH shorter way, and I would not have had to do what I did.

So, this morning, I decided I really needed to finish W & G. I found where it picks back up with the gang, and finished the book from there. And of course, it was brilliant. I was shocked to see how much of this book I skipped over, and it really reiterated why I skipped it. TOO long. I have heard of people saying King sometimes rambles, and I officially consider this to be one of his rambles. It was just not my favorite.

Also, what amazed me was, because I was worried I would need the story to understand the rest, but, within the first few pages of the main story, present time, pretty much the story is summarized by Eddie, Jake, and Susannah asking Roland questions. But, I digress.....I think now I am ready to continue on along the path of the beam with the ka-tet. I tried to pick up another book, not a King book, and I found myself needing to jump back into Mid-world.
