I hated this book the first time I tried to read it. Then I tried again and again and now I love it and will probably read it again.

Beautifully woven tale of Dinah and her family (old and new). Amazing woman amongst other amazing women in such barbaric times.

most people liked this book more than I....it just seemed overdone or overwritten or something. not very pithy critique ...read it awhile back & memory fails.

Very interesting historical fiction.

Her name is Dinah the only daughter of Jacob. In the Bible, her life is just a hint in the book, put more about familiar chapters of the Book of Genesis that are about her father, Jacob, and his dozen sons. Told in Dinah's voice, this novel reveals the traditions and turmoils of ancient womanhood--the world of the red tent.

This book brought history and biblical elements together that gave great insight in being a woman and her struggle and place in Old testament times. Great reading.
