This was my first time reading Vonnegut. I really enjoyed the one-liners in this book, to the point that I'm thinking about going back and making a list of some of my favorites. This book manages to address the futility of human life and make the subject almost cheerful. Although I'm not sure that I would classify it as one of the greatest books of all time, I found it quirky and clever and am looking forward to reading more from Kurt Vonnegut.

Usually like Kurt's writing but here i got lost. Didn't feel it was coherent enough, felt too loose and i didn't understand what he was trying to say.

This book set a lot of gears in motion for me. Vonnegut has such a genius about people... it's painful to read his writing sometimes because he goes right into the shittiness of humanity, but it's so funny and so loving that you end up with hope for humankind. "Maybe we can deal with even this, if we can laugh at it and learn from it," or some shit like that.

A well written book. Enjoyed reading it.

Read my mother's ancient copy at some point in high school. Vonnegut is perfect for high school. He should be a springboard for one's own social critiques, but really, aside from "Slaughter House No. 5" does anyone remember what these books are about? Wasn't this one about nuclear war?

Ovo je druga Vonegatova knjiga koju sam pročitala. Prva me je "oduvala" (Klanica 5 ili Dečiji krstaški rat) , a druga zamalo. Snažna i upečatljiva, ali slabije jačine jer sam već upoznata sa specifičnim stilom pisanja i već mogu izdvojiti motive ,već mi je poznat piščev pogled na život i svet . Usamljenost, otuđenost, besmisao života i instinkt za preživljavanje, sve to u novoj sredini, u drugačijim okolnostima , na kraju sveta.

" I setio sam se Bokononove četrnaeste knjige, koju sam u potpunosti pročitao prethodne noći. Četrnaeste knjiga nosi naslov : Čemu može da se nada za ljudski rod na Zemlji razuman čovek, imajući u vidu iskustvo proteklih milion godina?
Ne traje dugo dok se pročita Četrnaesta knjiga. Ona se sastoji od jedne reči i od tačke.

"Ničemu."

Well, Kurt is definitely one of those authors that you love or you hate. Questionably, though, i am neither. I can withstand his books, but this one just caught attention. I liked this story, it was a bit confusing at first but you catch on. The science he uses is actually incorrect but he probably didn't know this at the time. Overall it was alright book, but i didn't see the point in writing it.

I would let the world end just to taste that ice.
