This fascinating photo book travels to 24 countries and visits 30 families to photograph them with one week's worth of groceries. The book also looks at what the family does, and compiles statistics about the country and its food production, obesity levels, etc. It's a stunning, disturbing and fascinating book. It also contains recipes, essays about food, and interviews with each family. Highly recommended.

Fascinating look into the eating habits of people all over the world. Each family purchased a week's worth of groceries, which they laid out and captured in a family picture. Also included is an essay on each family, a breakdown of what the groceries cost in both their money and in American dollars, and sidebars with interesting country-specific facts. I was amazed!

This is a large pictorial book about what people eat around the world. The two authors would go into families and have them buy what they would eat for a week and put it out in front of them and then the authors would take a picture of the family sitting behind the food. There were marked contrasts between what the people ate in Chad and Australia. Each family had 3-4 pages where the food and preparation of the food was discussed. There was a seal hunt in Greenland, lots of potatoes in Ecuador, Coke and Quaker Oats everywhere. I really liked the book and would recommend people to check it out from a library. I am sure it is very expensive book.
