love is not only about 'i love u'

جذبني الكتاب كثيرا في البداية ... لا اعلم لماذا سيكون تعليقي سخيفا و لكن ما فائدة اهدار هذه المشاعر .. لقد اختار ... و اختارت ... و انتهى بهم المآل وحيدين ... يكتوي كلا منهم على ارصفة الانتظار ... على امل ان تحيي كلا منهم رسالة الآخر ... ما اقسى هذا النوع من الحب ...
لكن اعجبني كثيرا تلك البلاغة الرائعة و التشبيهات الآسرة لجبران ... :) فكلماته تدخل القلب دون استئذان ... اعجبني هذا السحاب الذي بنى قصره حوله ... و لكنه سحاب و لابد من ان ينقشع يوما ...

I also sped read this one. I pray that I draw God more into my vernacular, like Gibran does so naturally in these letters. The Middle East does it so well & what a beautiful way to enrich language & shape experience.
The letters didn’t speak much to me but maybe I’m more of a poetry girl than a letters girl, unless the letters are from a loved one to me, or me to them

‘“Give us what we want or give us nothing at all.” No May, we do not do this, because we realise that what is right and blessed and permanent in life does not follow our wishes, but moves us according to its will.’

okay, i actually not really good on romantic books, so it full of panergyric or ode that i don't understand much.
Still, his word is unexpected, and (even i REALLY don't in to it)i just love the phrase.

love is something more than just i love you

Both of Gibran and Mai are great writers to me. Gibran is one of my favorite romantic arab poets, Mai, for me, is the Sylvia Plath of the Arabs for she's full of all the feelings one could ever ask for.

Gibran and Mai love story, yes love, is one hell of a story. Simple yet full of complexity, madness, romance and passion. Although Gibran never fully states that he loves Mai -the way she did-, as he seems to insist on kissing Mai's forehead while she, passionately, addresses him, but wondering whether he loved her or not is one of the pleasures of reading these letters. This is not straight-forward, the letters are quite allusive and symbolic in a certain way. I mean it's poetry for God's sake. It's about language, loving without wanting, and choosing the permanent misery of one sided lovedistance relationship.

لَرُبما كان ذلك بسبب العكق الفلسفي الذي يتميز به جُبران

أما عن القديستين " مي زيادة " و " غادة السمان " فلا مجال للتفضيل بينهن

Aduh, sumpah nih buku bikin aku jatuh cinta!!! Bikin kita melayang, berfantasi, dan tiba2 pengen punya pacar (waktu baca buku ini masih single).
Cintaaa... banget ma nih buku!!

sebenernya bagus, diksinya juga mantep banget, cuma ya gitu, bahasanya terlalu tinggi jadi kurang nyerep di otak dangkal ini T_____T. andai kata yang baca anak sastra mungkin bisa ngerti dan paham buku ini soalnya emang romantis bgt, kayak kahlil gibran love may ziadah sm <3__<3
