Dr. Peck revisits past works and looks forward in growing human communities. Really enjoyed some parts about the journey of a soul, roughed through the rest. Occasionally judgmental, hasty conclusions. Didn't like that he mentions a patient was "an attractive woman", with the only physical description offered that she was at most a few pounds above average weight. Found it hard to embrace some of the religious dogma.

Great quotes. It was a bit hard to read due to the summary style of the book. The author has definitely got a firm grasp on the major issues that affect spirituality and understanding in our cultures today.

This book changed my definition of love. Love is any action that aids another or oneself in spiritual growth. Spiritual growth is uncomfortable and challenging by definition. This book helped me build courage to show up for the personal growth that awaits me, and to push my students forward to face their personal growth with loving eyes.

Good read, as in the form of usual Scot Peck's ideas and narrations.

Book is more of an extension of and possibly some repeat of his earlier work 'Road less traveled' and etc. Mostly around the book, Scots provides examples from his earlier works and repeats its explanation more or less the same way. As usual writer often highlights his experience in psychotherapy insists how it can be life changing, citing some of his clients. Never the less, most of the ideas he conveyed are very abstract, and sometimes bit convoluted i thought.

Apart, this work talks lots about spirituality and Religion, Scot did make reasonable good explanation for both of these terms, and ideas are seemingly based on Christian teachings. And he validates hims as strong believer of Christianity.

If you have read his works before, this book shall be a reasonable good read.

I don't have any qualms with this book. Honestly.
I am just at a point in my life where growth is happening without the aid of this book. I may need a push in the future but I am growing on my own and that is painful enough without the added pain of this book.
Changing ones ways hurts. I can accept this but I can't continue reading this right now.

Also useful and insightful, but still not as good as the original The Road Less Traveled.

This book is absolutely a must read. This is for anyone wanting to further their spiritual growth in an educational and deep manner. Dr. Peck uses his life examples in an open and honest way that is easy to read. He speaks of paradoxes and puts into words so many experiences of God that are so hard to put into words. This book is timeless in the ever increasing world of anxiety.

A great book about spirituality, change, and god.

It's an interesting book as it is written by a psychotherapist and deeply spiritual writer. The book is mostly about change. Personal change, organizational change, and change/transformation of communities.

It may sound like a promotion of religious beliefs but the book is actually a good advocate for the process behind the change and what to be aware of.

One point I like to point out because of my personal experience with hard transformation (due to alcohol abuse) is that it is impossible to see the change yourself. It feels like walking into the valley of death. But you need to go through it. No matter what kind of change/transformation you want in life. You need to let go of something, to get something new. Change requires you to trust the process sometimes religion of some sort helps you with that. Sometimes knowledge is everything.

Learning is the key to change. So keep an eye out for possibilities of learning and grab them.

see my other comments on this author. he's one of my favorites. he really makes you think about whether humans are innately good or evil and how narcissistic behavior can destroy.

It's a lot like reading a text book, but I'm intrigued by Peck's exploration of Christianity, responsibility, and personal growth.
