As a teenager growing up in an ultra-conservative Christian environment, this book was the shit.

As an adult with a less shielded worldview, I can only guess at the quality of writing and heavy-handedness of the Christian fundamentalist message. I'm not convinced a re-read is worth my time.

A good read and a warning about what could happen if we don't protect our freedom.

I enjoyed it. This is light reading, but plenty of excitement.

Putting all conspiracy theories aside this is a very interesting book with a lot of the situations that occur in the book seeming to play out in real every day life. That can sometime be a little troubling but considering the ending I dont mind too much. Definitely a book for the modern YouTube conspiracy theorists but a interesting read and always a precautionary tale of what could be... Overall I would say... Goodread.

Liked the story but the evangelical Christian slant was a little tough to swallow. The Christians were way more simplistic than any of the hundreds of Christians that I have known and loved in my 60+ years.

One of the best books I have ever read!

Though this book is fiction, it closely mimics much of the world today. Yet it brings a sense of hope and confidence in the Times of darkness.

I am still processing this book, even though I finished it hours ago. It was suspenseful, but not what I expected. I feel like I learned nothing about the Illuminati other than it being referenced as a secret society that was anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and wanted to become all powerful.

The story itself was good and kept me reading in that I did come to care about some of the characters. This book was published in 1991 and so reading it now, in 2024 post COVID, provided an interesting perspective. Some of the challenges described or feared in the book still seem relevant and very possible today.

I keep saying this because I happen to be remembering all the earliest books I've read, but this was like, THE FIRST book I can remember just getting entrenched in, on my own.

This book was wicked cool, even with it's silly christian spin. :P

Crazy ideas about secret societies, the prediction of earthquakes, super-elaborate systems. It's scary too, that a lot of the stuff it talked about in this fun fictional way is actually being talked about seriously nowadays.

A great book and a wicked cool read. If I can get my hands on a copy of this, I'm totally reading it again.

Almost finished with this one. I have it in my high school library and decided to take it home for break. It's eerie how the events in the book mirror what is happening today and it was written in 1991. At the end of the book you can tell he was trying to align events with those described in Revelations.

One of the best, most prescient books I ever read. This book was paradigmatic for me when I first read it. This is one of the books that I have re-read more than any other. I have probably read this book in its entirety a dozen or so times. Well-written, eminently believable (except for the kinda lame ending), scary in its prescience-Larry Burkett was a modern prophet.

Most people don't think of Larry Burkett as a novelist, but during his lifetime he wrote several excellent novels. "The Illuminati" is a great read (if you can skip over some of the outdatedness). Four stars to "The Illuminati".
