When I first got this cookbook I took it to bed and drooled over the recipes. When I started actually making ina garten recipes, people were tricked into thinking i was a really fabulous cook. So...if she can do it for me, she can transform fresh, healthy (well, except for the butter) whole foods, vegetables and fruits into amazing food. Friends and family are always clammoring for the recipes after trying creations I make out of this book...and i do give the credit all to the barefoot contessa.

Cover to cover

This is the first time I have ever sat down and read a Cookbook cover to cover. I am shocked at how much I enjoyed reading this. I learned a few new tips to use in my kitchen. I have already cooked 2 of the recipes and they were both outstanding. Lobster pie and coconut cupcakes (I made it into a bunt cake)

Beautiful cookbook, recipes that are easy to follow and no extra words that can complicate a beginner. Helpful tips on where to buy hard to find ingredients. The lentil soup recipe in this cookbook is one of my favorites. This is a well rounded cookbook with recipes that can please every guest.

First published in 2013, I couldn’t pass up an ebook deal to get this iconic cookbook.

Great photos, good recipes and helpful advice.

Fabulous cookbook but maybe not as simple and easy as you’d expect. Absolutely packed with incredible entertaining ideas, just not as accessible as I’d hoped.

Love how Ina makes seemingly daunting recipes approachable to novice cooks and bakers. Giving it a 4, instead of 5 star rating, because there still are some recipes that I can see myself never having a reason to make.

I cook 3 meals a day for my family, and I love the Barefoot Contessa Cookbooks. She's got great advice on preparing things ahead of time, how to cook for a larger group, and putting together a complete meal. Her recipes are best for people who are already pretty comfortable in the kitchen, and the baking is less reliable than the savory foods, but every one of her cookbooks is worth having.

Had to get this from the library after reading “Be Ready When the Luck Happens!” Ina has such a strong voice and this felt really special after just reading about the life she was living while her first cookbook was born. It’s quirky in that she is sharing recipes designed for a crowd (or specialty food store) so we cut everything we made in half. The split pea soup, cheddar corn chowder, filet of beef bourguignon and Indonesian ginger chicken were all delicious!

Eveything I have tried from this book is delicious ... smoked salmon tea sandwiches, gazpacho, even roasted carrots ... who knew? Tonight I am making the lime curd tart. I had borrowed this book from the library so many times that my librarian suggested it was time to buy my own copy. Glad I did.

I just read this cookbook for the second time, front to back, and it is as relevant today as it was when written. Ina will always be my go to source for good food that can be prepared easily while still making your family and friends glad they sat down at your table.
