My 11yo daughter and I are having a fun time going through all the Noel Streatfield books we can get on audio, to listen to in the car together.

Oh no, I'm so sad! I love Noel Streatfeild's writing so I was really looking forward to this. The idea is sweet but the story just drags on and on... I was especially looking forward to the stagey bit, but they don't get to the theatre until the very end. I wonder if I would have liked this when I was little? Now it was a disappointment sadly.

Being a Thursday child myself I loved this book when I read it as a girl.

Written in 1970, set early 20th century, reminded me of Lemony Snicket, except some good things happen! Thanks to the woman who left her copy of this book on the community library shelf at the gym.
