I really loved this book as well as most books by this author. It is fun to read a romantic adventure that has a great female character. I loved the setting of the book and it was a really easy read.

I love Madeleine Brent’s novels. They were a favorite as a teenager and are still some of my go-to reads when I want something light.

Moonraker’s Bride is one of my favorites. It’s a page turner. Filled with suspicious characters, interesting cultural commentary, while still being a clean romance that’s hard to find today. It has the feel and charm of an older book. Very reminiscent of and comparable to a Victoria Holt novel.

While it’s not one of the best books ever written, it will always have a spot in my heart.

I read this book to help Ryan with his English project. Judy gave me her copy and it was fun to read along with Ryan. I really enjoyed the clean romance and mystery of the book. It is set in China and England and the author does a great job of describing each culture and the protagonist’s adjustments to the different cultures. A really good book!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the latter part of the 19th century. Getting to know Lucy Waring and her time spent in China was engrossing. The Greshams in England were another matter. They were the epitome of all things wrong with high society and a lack of money.

The narrative style of Moonraker's Bride was both original and unusual. There was a strong sense of time and place whether she was in China or England. On more than one occasion, I felt I was immediately alongside of Lucy. I can't imagine a reader not liking her. Lucy's innocence and honesty were refreshing.

The author included enough historical tidbits; I spent some time googling.

And the romance? I know there are those readers who wanted more time spent with the H and h; I did, too. But I am not sure if the suspense would have been as taut nor the HEA as good.

I can't get over how perfect this book ended. Justice served to stupid Robert Falcon (who I never trusted). My two favorite characters, Lucy and Nicholas happily married and all that misunderstanding (DUE TO RESPECT OF BOUNDARIES) healthily talked out and both sides understanding of the other. Mr. Marsh getting all the happiness he deserves. The Mission in China (run by the fabulous Mrs. Fletcher) all taken care of and the awful Greshams left to rot. Dr. Langdon given all the credit, and gratitude for saving Nick's life. Everything is all right in the end.

I'm in awe of this book, and of this author. I can not articulate all the conflicting feelings which are whirling inside of me now. I have never read a book that enthralled me to that extent. I have rated many books and given them five stars and no less but this book is different. every star has five stars on its own. every part of this book sprouts excellence, creativity and genuineness. I could not get enough of this book. it's my first time reading a romance written by a male author . and I was pleasantly surprised to find it more perfect than any female author-written novel I have ever read.
I'm so excited to read the next book and hope it will be of no less splendour than this book. and I really fell in love with our hero and could not help sympathizing with our heroine. she was a paragon of patience and love. she was the gem of this novel in the true sense of the word.

I would say a 3.5 stars. This book was recommended to me by my friend, Angie C. I do not really like romance novels, but this had an element of mystery, intrigue, and suspense. So I liked it. I loved the riddle, I suspected the hiding place of the treasure early in the book. I guessed the riddle, even before the characters did, which is so unlike me. I was confused about who the true evil guy was. Although that is what the author wanted me to be, confused. I was hoping that Nick would be the good guy. But you will have to read to find out. Surprise, twists, and intrigue keep me reading. Toward the end of the book every chapter ended with, "I have to know more."

Fun, clean, adventurous story. Slow start. Didn’t catch my interest until about Ch 3, then easily held it to the end. I enjoyed Nick’s character - bold & confident in everyday life, until it comes to loving Lucy then he’s unsure and restrained. A pleasant novel. I’d recommend it to my mom, sisters and daughters without hesitation. (Read this one with my eyeballs

Okay now don't get me wrong. I enjoyed reading this, I enjoyed the main character and I liked how fast-paced it was. I'm just not very sure if I like the idea of a 53 year old white male writing about a young girl growing up in China, when I don't think he has ever been to China (according to his wikipedia page, I did very extensive research...) or you know... talked to young girls about their inner experiences. To be fair, I don't think that ever happened at that time. Anyway, I feel like to fill in this "gap of knowledge", lots of stereotypes were used and that just bothered me a little. Also, I don't want to spoil the ending, but the ending definitely spoiled me if you know what I mean lmao, I for sure expected more of it.

This book is a gem!!! Completely a junk-food read, but so very very enjoyable. A little melodramatic, but thrilling and a page-turner. In fact, I stayed up until 4 in the morning finishing it. I had to put 5 stars just because of how much fun it was to read, even though I don't know that I'll read it again.
