Una historia de fantasmas, pero no de esos que también, ni de aquellos, sino de los del pasado, de los que nunca nos abandonan y que atormentan mucho más. A quien no le vayan las espesuras introspectivas mejor que ni lo abra pero que sepa que se va a perder uno de los mejores escritores contemporáneos. El ambiente que Banville crea con su forma de escribir y el estar narrada en primera persona le dan mucha más emotividad a la historia, y eso que no es poca la que ya tiene de por sí.

If you want to know how to write consummate prose then add Eclipse to your list. Banville writes like no other author I know. His ability to describe tiny details of everyday life add to the underlying tensions within the book,
Like most (all?) Banville novels, the action moves at a snail’s pace but the building of the story is meticulous. He keeps his cards close (at least to me) so the ‘reveals’ have impact disproportionate to their reality.
My abiding feeling is one of loss. How can someone manipulate English in such a fashion? He uses arcane language and paragraphs with multiple sub-text as a way of making the reader dangle.

Πρεπει να ομολογήσω οτι η γραφή του Μπάνβιλ ειναι εντυπωσιακά καλή, ποιητική και πολύπλοκη ( τα 3 αστέρια τα δίνω γι' αυτο το λόγο). Ο ρυθμός όμως πολυ αργός και χαοτικός.Δυςτυχως αυτο το βιβλίο δεν με κέρδισε. Ανυπομονούσα να τελειώσει για να ξεκινήσω κάποιο άλλο...
