When it comes to Sherlock Holmes I am a "nerd". I loved the book obviously because I love Holmes, but some adventures were quite boring and likewise, there was some adventure extraordinary. My favorite was "The adventure of the six napoleons". Also, this was my favorite quote: "A fortune for one man that was more than he needed should not be built on ten thousand ruined men who were left without the means of life". (The problem of Thor Bridge, p590).

Once I got past the latter half of "A Study in Scarlet" (the first story, which is split into two parts), the rest of the collection really flew by! I had a blast reading these and seeing the original source material after watching numerous adaptations (Jeremy Brett, Robert Downey Jr., Basil Rathbone, Jonny Lee Miller, Benedict Cumberbatch).

I was surprised at the quality of some of the pieces. When I read "The Adventure of the Speckled Band", I think that maybe I found it as thrilling and as horrifying as the day it was released to the public. Not every story was amazing but the shorter stories tend to fly by and you'll either be glad to be in-and-out of a boring one or wanting much more than 20 pages. Great stuff!

Enjoyed the world of Sherlock Holmes. The Hound of the Baskervilles was my favorite story. Indubitably! Need a break before I read Volume 2.
