Some of the stories in this collection were more memorable than others. But I personally felt there were some real gems here, especially for established fans of L.M. Montgomery's work.
Did I like it? Yes.
Would I reread it? I would want to reread individual stories, but probably not the whole collection.
Would I recommend it? Overall, yes.

I say I liked it but to be honest I found it somewhat meh. The title rings falsely with me - it would have been better to call it 'Happy endings' as almost every story would have made a good ending for a novella or even a novel. The title here just strikes me as too ambitious for the book's content. The odds weren't that great and even for the time this book is set in, these achievements are pretty lackluster.

A compilation of L.M. Montgomery's magazine stories -- I reread through this to find the gem called "The Strike at Putney" which is the best thing in the book. Also interesting was 'How We Got to the Wedding" which includes a very familiar scene that Anne fans will remember from Rilla of Ingleside.

There is something to be said for a collection where you know every story is going to turn out all right. Extremely pleasant book.

Even though Montgomery always is a delight to read, this collection of short stories will never be among my favourites. First of all I find it a mistake to have a general theme of the book, that makes the stories too alike with no of the wonderful unexpected developments that Montgomery otherwise are so good at. And none of these stories stands out. They are too easily mixed up and soon forgotten. The only story that stands a little apart is How We Went to the Wedding. I think I would have liked a whole Montgomery novel about life in the West, that might have been interesting reading.

I took me a while to finish it because I've decided to read a few short stories between each novel I read. However, I really enjoyed it! I just love L.M. Montgomery . . . All of the stories just made me feel happy. A very enjoyable read!

I love reading and rereading L.M. Montgomery books. There is a certain wholesomeness to them without being cloying - or maybe I just have a high saccharine tolerance.

Few writers are able to write short stories quite like L.M. Montgomerey. Hers are complicated and hartwarming, just long enough for the reader to really fall in love with each character. The funny part is that many of the stories in this particular volume share enormously similar plots, which incidentally point at experiences from Lucy's own life story. I think I still prefer "At the Altar" for her short stories, but they are both wonderfully written and delightfully refreshing.

L.M. Montgomery has a special place in my heart. Her tales have a special flavor that only she brings to the page. The stories made me chuckle and shed a tear. Montgomery's writing style is not for everyone but I find it appealing.
