I really don't know what to say about this book. On one hand, I felt that both the story and the characters were a bit sophomoric. On the other hand, it almost felt like a fairy tale. But in the end I did enjoy the story. This is the first book I have read by this author. I probably would be inclined to read some of her other books. I like happy endings!!!!

No chemistry between the H/h, the story wasn't developed very well. Glad it was a short book. This is my first JAK book if they are all like this I don't think I will pick up another one.

I always enjoy Jayne Ann Krentz. The mystery part of the story was clever and held my interest. The Hawaiian shirts worn by the hero seemed very out of place with the man. Otherwise, really enjoyed the book and the Audible narration.

A very adventurous AND heartwarming read!

The two protagonists are so very different you can’t imagine them finding anything in common and the twists and turns in the story kept me entertained for the entire book.

This is another entertaining read from Jayne Ann Krentz. Eugenia Swift (our heroine) and Cyrus Colfax (our hero) are again two seemingly mismatched people, who have to work together to solved two connected mysteries. Eugenia, a smart woman is an expert in glass artwork, both historical and contemporary. She is a poised, elegant, determined woman, who is direct in her opinions. Cyrus Colfax is a Private Investigator hired by Eugenia’s employer to help and protect her while she catalogues a new significant glass connection that has been donated by a serious collector. Cyrus, who has a liking for Hawaiian shirts, has also been employed by the administrator of the donor’s e to investigate the circumstances of his death. Both Eugenia and Cyrus clash over many things, but discover that they have a lot more in common than it first appears: loyalty; a sense of honour; and strength. The plot was well crafted (you could almost imagine many of the pieces of glasswork), the characters balances and it was a fun read.

jayne ann krentz is going to become my go-to author for suspense and romance.

sharp edges takes place on yet another small island with the mysterious death of a famous, high-end art collector. the death is believed to be an accident - but eugenia, the leading lady, doesn't think it is. after all, her friend nellie (who was the art collecter's lover) died within 24 hours of his death. and since eugenia felt responsible for nellie's death, seeing as she's the one who introduced her to adam, the art collector, she's determined to find nellie's killer.

okay. now that you have some background, let's get on with the review.

i think that this was definitely a great book, especially because i don’t like super-scary thrillers but this was just slightly scary. i liked the twist at the end because if i hadn't been engrossed in the book, maybe i'd have seen it coming. (spoiler: fenella killed adam, but not on purpose - and nellie faked her death so she is still alive) but maybe not.

i certainly did think that nellie was still alive, because faking one's death at sea is definitely easy. people don’t find the body, but it's unlikely that they would because it'd be washed away. and i did think that eugenia and cyrus would end up together. i could never fall for cyrus though. it's probably the shirt. nope, i don’t do big-ass hawaiian flowers and bright vacation shirts meant for old men. okay. i'm done.

After a slow start, the story got interesting. Sometimes Mis. Krentz stories get bogged down with a little too many details, but that just shows that she that she does her research. It took a few chapters to appreciate Eugenia and Cryrus, but really enjoyed them by the end of the book.

I'm diving into the cutthroat world of glass antiquities and there's a whole lot going on here. A disarmingly laid-back PI on a quest for justice and the somewhat tightly wound director of a glass museum don't seem like they'd have much in common, but I always say a couple who stumbles over bodies together bond in the BEST sort of way.

Okay, I've never actually said that. But it's kind of true in Eugenia and Cyrus's case. I mean they actually start trusting one another (to an extent) and a little trust leads to other things. You know, like depending on the other person when the chips are down.

That said, it takes a while for these two to get where they need to be. Eugenia challenges Cyrus at every turn and he's not quite sure what to think of that. He tries his hardest to come off as non-threatening (and maybe a little bumbling), but Eugenia sees right past his garish shirts to the sharp mind beneath. And once these two drop their guards around one another THINGS HAPPEN.

A little danger, a mystery that has layers, a lot of smolder, and a couple who challenge each other in every way. *thumbs up*

I really enjoy books by Jayne. She never fails to bring me right into the action, the mystery and the romance. I know that when I read one of her books, I will love it. This is not one of her paranormal books.

A very typical JAK contemporary romantic suspense. And that's not a bad thing. While she can write amazing books (Sweet Starfire), she generally writes entertaining-yet-forgetable books. I often go to JAK (or another of her pen names) when I just don't know what to read next.

Sharp Edge was entertaining as hoped, but didn't wow me and probably won't last long in my memory. The two central characters were fine, but they didn't generate a lot of chemistry. The plot was decent and the secondary characters were well-done.

Recommended if you like JAK, can get it cheap or free, and need a nice generic beach read.
