It's more a self-help book than about Cirque du Soleil. But, as it's easy to read, feels not completely like a waste of time.

I have always had an affinity for Cirque Du Soleil. This book is an inspiring story about how one man discovered Cirque Du Soleil and was so moved by the art and passion he saw that it helped him find his path again in life. It's a quick up lifting read!

With out a doubt one of the best books I have read in a long, long time. Lefe transforming even. I am thinking about requiring my staff to read it. Great book.

Thoughts about how to challenge yourself every day to keep yourself motivated and loving what you do (making your career your calling). Presented in a novel format about a sports agent looking for ways to bring back the joy to his work. He ends up going to the Cirque du Soleil headquarters and working with many of the people responsible for the shows. Each person brings a new perspective, such as how to learn not to be afraid of success, how tighter deadlines can sometimes lead to more creative solutions, the importance of trust in yourself and others, and the importance of feeling totally responsible for your part of the job. Most of these can translate to any kind of work. This was an interesting presentation of some good ideas.

Cirque Du Soleil- The Spark by John U. Bacon and created by Lyn Heward. I read a review of it and decided to check it out. I found the story to be an interesting mix of business motivational situations and a behind the scenes look at the creative workings of Cirque Du Soleil.

I chanced upon this book while looking for some inspiration. This book was not what I expected it to be, but it served the purpose very well. Overall a nice insight into a creative company that has turned circus into an art form.

A little book that helps us re-ignite that tiny spark inside every one of us :)
For those who feel stagnant in their daily lives and works, or for those who are simply big fans of Cirque du Soleil, i recommend this book. I happened to be both, but i give only 3 stars for this book. Actually i want to rate this 4 stars, but i hate the cover design...hahaha...well, not something i expect from a book that bear the name Cirque du Soleil on it, in my opinion :p

One Minute Manager for the ARTS

This book is the One Minute Manager for the arts. It hits on all the creative buzz words to make you feel better, but is rather old hat for the creative minds. The tale lost me in the middle when it bogged down with the training and tried to ham fist the message between acrobatics and clown makeup. By the end, I was so disinterested and skipping around that the end really lost its punch. I didn't care about an agent that wanted to find his passion again. I wanted him to be consumed by a clown instead.

If you're new to the One Minute Manager mindset and offerings, this book might be good for you. If you're just starting off in the creative career, sure...get your literary clown makeup on. Other than that, don't bother.

This is what I get for listening to a podcast recommendation.

I was recommended this for some tips on reading company cultures, so keep in mind my perspective is from that.

Firstly, it was a fantastic read and a great story and journey the main character finds himself on. Very interesting that several people note the key to creativity is trust and diversity. They only recruit "normal" people (they have turned down gold medallist applicants), and hire for the right fit for Cirque over people with high skills, and the right fit tends to be those who are more collaborative and have a growth mindset.

If you have read "The Goal" for a productivity novel, read this for a cultural novel.
