This was written when the 90s were only half over, but certainly the early 90s were very concerned with leaving the decadent 80s behind and also a bit obsessed with both the 60s and the future. These essays were pretty hit or miss for me and it was kind of painful to read them knowing how much of an incredible shift would be coming with Bush vs. Gore, 9/11, and Obama’s election. And then Trump. What an insane 20 years it’s been.

one of my fave Coupland books. I heard him read the story about Berkeley live before I got the book, and I was hooked.

I really enjoy Douglas Coupland's intimate storytelling. This was the first book of his I ever read (at 18) and was hooked! I look forward to re-reading this now that I'm in my 30's.

To be brutally honest, this book just seemed like a bunch of random rantings about absolutely nothing. It was like he had written it all down just to get the thoughts off his chest, and then haphazardly threw them into a book and sent it off to his publisher... and it only got published because of his past successes.

Normally I love Coupland, but this book was a huge disappointment.

I like how this has pictures. I think I like the pictures better than the book. More to add when I am done with it.

A bunch of crap about Brentwood, CA, Nicole Brown Simpson, and the Grateful Dead.

I never finished this. I got stuck on a boring essay or something and haven't had the urge to pick it back up. Some of the stories were really good and I like the writing style.

This was my least favorite of his books. Reminiscing is something that's always nice for the people involved in the history; however, it can be tedious for those outisders subjected to it. My boyfriend at the time loved it, so I gave it to him as a going-away gift. We broke up weeks later. Perhaps the book was bad karma...?
