April Book Club Book - I only got through half of it. My life was too crazy to pick it up and stick. I actually had to return it back to the library before I could finish it. I'm hoping to catch the movie sometime.

Best chapter title ever:
"The Reverend Arthur Beebe, the Reverend Cuthbert Eager, Mr. Emerson, Mr. George Emerson, Miss Eleanor Lavish, Miss Charlotte Bartlett, and Miss Lucy Honeychurch Drive Out in Carriages to See a View; Italians Drive Them."

It was a little hard for me to get used to the prose. With time, I started to really enjoy it. As is typical of me, seeing the movie made me like the book even more.

Forester writes about a time I wished I had been born into. He's an elegant writer, and I'm always sorry to finish his books. It's like leaving a good home,

Quirky and funny. Loved it. Extra bonus: The movie is just as charming as the book.

From the two books in this one binding I have read A Room with a View.
It was an okay read, a bit boring, not as sparkling or witty as I had expected from the description(s) that I read with this book. I'd give it a 6 out of 10.
Note to self: don't read these things: they often rise unanswered expectations.

The Howards End I found not very noteworthy. Will not spend any more words on it, as, I'm sorry to sAy, it didn't leave much of an impression.

I am re-reading these. My friend just started Grad School, and I convinced him to give me a copy of his syllabus, so I'm reading along, too. So I'll be revisiting some classics.

Bit of a yawn fest, well done for what it is, but what it is isn't for me. Gave it 3 stars but felt 2.5 was closer. Saving grace was the backdrop of Florence. Did people really talk and act this way? Jill Masters read this audiobook and did a highly competent job.

Don't read this sumptuous book for the romance (although it is wonderful); read it for the panoramic views of Florence, the class studies in 20th-century England, and Forster's absolutely freakin' hilarious British wit.

So far, this book makes me want to be rich. Beats reading Russian novels that make you want to be a poor poet!

E.M. Forster sure knows how to write and he's one of the few male writers who write believable women.

I was sucked in - I wasn't sure how it was going to end!
