It'll save you, or it'll durn near kill you.
And you won't know which until you're in too deep to get out.
How about that "rocketed into a forth dimension" part?
And all that stuff about how you can go anywhere and do anything as long as your house is clean?
Not to mention "To Wives".
I could go on and on.
It's a mystical treatise intended to lead the reader to God.
Yeah.
This was written by some really messed up guys. Do the research.

If you are concerned about your drinking habits, this book can help you. I've read it four times and working on the fifth. I love this book because its all about me!

The first step of overcoming anything is admitting that you are powerless over it. If you could engage with these things normally why wouldn't you? Everything else is a variation on this theme.  Decision, surrender, insight, over and over. Thirteenth step is where you are now.

Even though I'm not a Alcoholic I have found this book a rewarding experience. I seriously have learned to be a better leader from reading this book. I'm grateful for the recommendation from my Senior Naval Science Instructor.

Seriously, “it’s more than a book.” It’s a new way of life. I have read the big book (mostly audiobook version) more than ten times after I have joined the program and said goodbye to my lifetime best friend wine.

My sobriety has only been slightly over four months but I feel like I have accomplished a lot more during that four months than 40 years of my life.
And it changed. It got better, and most importantly, I know what I want. All my fears and anxieties are gone. My life problems started getting resolved. I am not scared of heights anymore. It’s only been four months but my body is at my best shape! (Oh well, I always had drinking belly even in my 20s). I started to fix problems instead of putting off or trying to forget about those.

I could write a lot more about the benefits of this book and the program but not here :) I would definitely recommend this book to those who suffer, and I recommend them to start with listening to the audiobook version.

I enjoyed reading it. It offers a good glimpse into what recovering from Alcoholism is about. I read it as a book of philosophy (by that I mean "the quest for knowledge") and found it to be a great read. I used it to study for my state CDP (Chemical Dependency Professional) exam.

No, I'm not an alcoholic. But this is a really important book that everyone should read.

Hard to really rate and review this one. I’m not an AA purist by any means. I quit 06/07/2018. I went to AA for the first time over a year into my sobriety, it was nice and I see the benefits but I haven’t gone back since. Had I gone when I was initially quitting I would’ve found it much more beneficial and would’ve formed a stronger bond with AA.

So, I’m not a disciple of AA nor a hater. If it works, do it. I’m not saying that from a point of looking down on it at all, I’m grateful AA exists to give folks a support system if they don’t have one.

Many people shun AA for its use of religion. I get it. It’s very offputting. But the key is, you have to choose a higher power “of your understanding”. This way the weight of existential dread crush you. You’re powerless to your drinking but can leave it up to “nature”. It’s put there to help more than harm. The the right amount of humility you can sidestep the God part and find some beneficial elements of AA. If not, that’s cool too.

One of the great spiritual works produced by humanity, and a book that has probably saved more lives than any other ever written. This is the owner's manual for the most effective system for overcoming addictions and achieving peace of mind that has yet been found. The authors make it clear that they are not saying or implying that they have the only thing that works, and encourage the reader to do whatever works, including working with professional treatment providers; this is a good adjunct to treatment, not an either-or alternative.
