A Wrinkle in Time and A Swiftly Titling Planet were my favorite of the quartet. I loved the creativity in characters and storyline. Madeline L'Engle creates very easy to relate to characters in the story, and builds the family dynamic in such a way that we are immediately drawn into the family like we were always there.

Charles Wallace could kick Harry Potter's ass. Sing mitochondria, sing!

With over 10 million copies in print, Madeleine L'Engle's Newbery Medal-winning classic, A Wrinkle in Time, along with its bestselling companions, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and Many Waters, has enthralled and inspired readers of all ages. This newly designed boxed set features the stunning art of Peter Sís.

Most people never get past A Wrinkle in Time, possibly because the level of weirdness just keeps going up and does get harder to follow...but Many Waters offers a great perspective on the biblical story of Noah.

Wonderful books for any age that will give your imagination something to grow on. Great books to discuss as well.

These books are some of the most incredible ever. I first found "Wrinkle" when I was about 12, and was thrilled to find more of L'Engle's books several years later. There's really no way to describe them, but they made me feel like anything was possible and that love is the center of the universe. Just wonderful.

I really enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time when I was a kid. On rereading, I discovered that I had definitely forgotten the way Christian symbols and metaphors kind of beat you over the head in this book. It and A Wind in the Door (which, like the other three books in this omnibus, I had never read before), could definitely benefit from some subtlety. Both books are fun, but also frustrating.

A Swiftly Tilting Planet really made up for this, though. The symbolism and overarching themes are balanced by an awesome story. I love the way the time travel elements are used, and the common threads among the generations Charles Wallace visits and their ties to mythology are handled really well. I also felt like the message of " 'gifted' people are a completely separate species from the rest of humanity and will never be accepted by 'normal' people" was tempered in this story.

When I started reading Many Waters, I had a real "what the hell" reaction when I realized what the primary story was going to be about. But I really enjoyed it. The twins are fun characters and more accessible than Meg and Charles Wallace ever are, to me at least. Her treatments of the seraphim and the nephilim really appealed to me, and I thought she dealt well with issues of puberty and sexuality here.

Overall, I really enjoyed the second two books and I really liked seeing the development of writing style and themes over the course of many books and much time.

I <3 Madeleine L'Engle! A lot. Who else can make science this fun? Especially for a young girl who likes English more than any other science and can't really understand why mitochondria are that important. Her use of language (the Happy Medium? Awesome) and her subtle morals make any of these books worth reading over and over again.

I love the whole darn series (okay, so I haven't read Many Waters yet - I confess). But the first three are fantastic reads. I also confess that I love people who weave a tale with an alterior motive that I agree with. Yes, I understand why it comforts me, but I don't care - it's still an awesome book!!! I even wanted to name my kittens Fortinbras and Ananda (although my husband won that name battle, *sigh*).

I love these books! My Dad bought me the first book, A Wrinkle in Time, when I was a young girl. I quickly devoured it and the subsequent follow-ups. I have reread them as an adult as well and enjoyed them just as much as when I was a child. The characters in the books make you feel like you don't have to be perfect or fit the same mold as everyone else to make a difference. It makes you realize that everyone has strengths, weaknesses, and insecurities, and that we should not be so quick to judge. L'Engle's books are unique , but very enjoyable for both children and adults.

Even though these books are all fiction, they can be extremely thought provoking. I enjoyed the entire set. I re-read a wrinkle in time because of a book club. I then read the others just to finish the set. They have similar themes, and just a few discrepancies, but all in all are great reads.
