This book acts as clever collection of Madeline L'Engle's statements. L'Engle had a knack for bringing large concepts and ideas into lovely language, and it was my pleasure as a classroom teacher to share some of this talent with middle grades students.

Madeleine L'Engle Herself will make its way into other classes I teach as a sourcebook for conversation starters, as well as a collection of exemplary uses of the written word. Highly recommended for long-time readers of this author, as well as those who wish to become better acquainted with her work.

Two beloved 20th century authors wrote memoirs that examine both their faith and their craft. As inspirational as informative, both titles draw the reader into the authors’ worlds. See Madeleine L’Engle’s Madeleine L’Engle Herself: Reflections on a Writing Life and C. S. Lewis’s Surprised by Joy: the Shape of my Early Life.
