This book is about the incredible story of a couple's ministry to the poorest of the poor, "least of these" in Mozambique. This book will grab your heart right from the get go. It's very touching.
What a beautiful testimony of God’s hand over a couple who live in submission to God’s will. God is honoured throughout and His grace, mercy and love is reflected so well. Read this book, it might change your life.
As recommended by a friend, I was encouraged by this wonderful story of modern evangelist missionaries in southeastern Africa. It took a while for me to realize - and confirm by looking at the book genre on the back - that they were charismatic in their approach, but they certainly were and had a zeal we don't often experience in the U.S. for sharing God's Good News.
Read this one for English class three years ago, and picked it up again before hearing hear speak at a conference I attended. Great book! The stories in it will really make you marvel..
Books like these can be turning points in the life of believers (and unbelievers!). Seeing modern-day Acts played out before your eyes with such a clear and concise message: Jesus is enough. It will jar you back into right perspective. It will pull out of you a cry to God for authenticity and compassion. You may close this book when you've reached the end and repent. Or, because it showcases without shame the destitution of the truly poor, you may simply be left undone.
There is a BIGGER picture to the Christian life, and it involves us recognizing the Truth of Jesus.
This is one of the most life-changing, life impacting books I've ever read. Heidi and Rolland are radical lovers of God who have lived in garbage dumps and shacks all across Mozambique, taking in thousands and thousands of orphans with no way of taking care of them. They depend on Jesus every day to be all that they need...and He shows up and multiplies food daily, raises the dead, opens blind eyes and ears...etc. You can't come away without your heart being broken for the orphans and the widows.
A candid look at the start of the Baker's ministry in Mozambique with some exposition about what led them to go there in the first place. Rolland and Heidi alternate writing different chapters, so you get to see both of their perspectives on the same events. Overall, it was encouraging as it called me to a place of further surrender and trust in God no matter the circumstance.
