As I read Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth by Rolland and Heidi Baker, so often It DIDN'T seem like "enough"! Overwhelming circumstances presented to the Bakers including multitudes of children (so many orphaned, starving, dying, abused) in the midst of devastating floods and a totally broken infrastructure in the country of Mozambique. Like in the early church in Acts, amazing miracles happened, but also miracles did NOT happen when they seemed so greatly needed. The last chapter titled "Jars of Clay", begins with these verses for 2 Cor 4:7-11: "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus 'sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you." This is what makes this book so believable: both the victories and the discouragement is honestly portrayed.
So "enough" is what God defines it to be: despite such incredible difficulties leading to "dying daily" for the Bakers and the many pastors of the churches that sprang up all over; thousands come to life in Christ even before their desperate physical needs are met, because they are so hungry for Jesus!
So it is "enough" to bring a great harvest of people into the Kingdom of God. God proves Himself "enough" even when situations don't change and pain and suffering last a long time. In the midst of such great need, is great Joy! In the midst if a multitude of desperately needy, the Bakers learn to continually stop for "the one", for that is what Jesus does!
