Simply read because it is so well know. At times repetitive, but in other ways succinct.
Most of the ideas seem very obvious, but I kind of get how these things can be applied to much more in life than actual warfare. Sometimes the most logical and reasonable steps/actions to take are overlooked or not properly assessed.

Vintage, pithy and awesome.

Proverbial bullshit in its purest and raw form. This poppycock of a “book” is moronic and anyone who considers this to be insightful is in serious need of a brain scan. While debate centers around the existence of Sun Tzu, my issue does not lie there. Rather, these pithy, aphoristic statements, littered throughout the novel are boring and obvious. “When the enemy is far, be near” “When they are not ready be ready” yeah no fucking shit. This book is faux sagaciousness and I could obtain this elusive wisdom from a homeless guy for a nickel and that’s an insult to the homeless guy. “When the opponent doesn’t wipe their ass, be ready for stench” is my take on this trivial garbage. Sorry Mr.Tzu, but your alleged experience as an ancient successful Chinese general is not visible, take a writing class.

Sun Tzu não fala só de batalhas físicas, mas de como dominar situações difíceis, seja no trabalho, na vida ou na mente. Reading through, I realize that many points are wise military strategy. However, as with any strategy, it could be applied to life experiences aside from battle as well. The part about intercourse giving the male energy and power though….. I’m not so certain about that…. Ugh

A good break down of strategic scenarios in a clear and concise structure. Applicable to many environments in the modern life we live today. Would recommend as it advantageous to use said strategies as well as recognise when it is being used on you. Perfect for conflict navigation and recognising manipulation and deceit.

I️ was surprised by how readable this was— very tactical and broken down into clear sections. If anything it was too grounded in actual pragmatic techniques of war, but I️ guess that’s fitting with the purpose of the book at that time. Some good one-liners and it’s easy to see how the philosophies on the different types of “ground”, spies, fire, etc.- can all be translatable to business and really anything involving opposing forces. It does purport a very limited view of leadership and how you relate to your “soldiers”, which is a big enough gap that it probably should be read alongside more modern qualifiers if you’re seeking inspiration for your own leadership.
