I read this a few years after first reading about GTD. This was a great review of the basic ideas, and a reminder of why GTD works (for some anyway). It's a collection of newsletter articles, but the items in the book flow together nicely, This is a great book to read either 1 item at a time or many in one sitting, and if you started out the book being a bit lax in your approach to GTD, you'll end in inspired to be more disciplined.

Where Getting Things Done is a practical "how-to" book to help you implement a system of creatively getting your things done, Ready for Anything is more philosophical. It's more about the benefits of implementing the GTD system, how it helps in various aspects of our lives, how it works in theory and in practice. Do not read this if you haven't already read Getting Things Done. It will only confuse you.

Overly complicated, in my opinion, and redundant. Too many steps, presented too quickly, with little reflection and even less cohesiveness.

Another good read by my favorite productivity guide. Practical advice, time management, stress reduction, and work-life balance packed in 52 actionable tips to improve efficiency and reduce stress in both work and personal life. It’s built on the concept from my favorite book by Allen, “Getting Things Done”. Warm recommendation for anyone who is starting or is already getting things done. :)

I like David Allen's take, even when I don't agree with him. Like Chapter 7 about Prioritization. But I'm nitpicking.

This is a nice follow on to n  Getting Things Donen where David offers 52 short chapters each dealing with a different topic. Having spent some time working on GTD methodology I re-read this one and definitely took more from it than the first time!

If you are a fan of GTD, you’ll love this book! It’s like being introduced to a lot of hiking trails after getting a great set of shoes. David is brilliant at showing complex navigation in the most simplest manner. This book is broken up nicely, so you can keep revisiting areas of interest or challenge.

I'm a big fan of David Allen, but this book was a big disappointment. Its a series of 52 essays that are reprints from Allen's newsletters and website, and they tend to be short, pithy, and reasonably readable pieces that riff on the core principles of Allen's Getting Things Done book. However, the problem with it is that after 2-3 of these things, they bleed together, and you're reminded that all the good ideas were in the original book. Others might like it more than me -- Allen spends lots of time on principles versus tactics in this book, with a massive amount of quotes that are Zen driven. I mainly was motivated to reread Getting Things Done as the best ideas here (Ubiquitous Capture Tool, Weekly Review, psychic RAM) were all described more practically in the previous book.

If you're having trouble getting yourself organized and set off in a direction, this is a great book to read over. (Somehow or other, though, I seem to have come up with a lot of the techniques in here for myself on my own already. I have this problem a lot with personal effectiveness books.)

"Small things, done consistently, create major impact" (Ch 49). Productivity guru, David Allen, gives 52 keys to mastering life and business. Read (and apply) one a week, and in a year you'll soon develop the "mind like water" Allen promotes.

This is an excellent book that covers a wide range of topics under the GTD methodology. The chapters are only a couple pages each and there are 52, I have re-read one a week for years. It helps remind me of various aspects of the GTD system.
