Interesting read. I dont normally go for the lawyer side of crime books, but I enjoyed it.

This book was too long for my taste. The courtroom scenes just dragged on and on relentlessly, till I found my eyes glazing over. Earlier this year I served on a weeklong jury duty which was fun, but sitting there during the deadly dull minutiae bored me to tears. And that's what a lot of this book reminded me of. Also, I seriously don't like the way Martini makes disparaging remarks about "liberals" in his books. Even though it's nowhere near as bad as a few other authors I've read, it's still enough to make me reconsider buying any more of Martini's books.

Solid writing, a bit of a stretch on the writing. Also thought I times the story got thin. I enjoyed it, but felt it could have been written better, or the characters done better…but maybe that was the intent, to see struggles during a case. I’d read another book of his.

My first book by this author and I enjoyed it. It flowed and kept me interested. The ending was not what I expected.

The defendent is innocent. Paul and Harry know this to be true. But to prove it takes some out of the box accusations, and then identifying the killer. This story brings in not only the murder, the victim, and all those around her, but includes the Federal Gov't and their penchant for "spying" on US citizens in the name of terrorism prevention, and questions the fine line between the two.

Double Tap (and btw what a great title - love the hard consonants and staccato rhythm, perfectly communicating the tone of the story) is a good, quick read. The plot is complex enough to keep you guessing until the end. I had a hunch about the supposed villain but no clue who actually 'dunnit'. The author plants just enough clues to inform, mislead, and confuse. He tiptoes near the Info Dump precipice without teetering over. However if all of this author's books are similarly detailed courtroom dramas, I don't know if I'll go back for seconds. It's the kind of thing that would be great on the small or large screen and that I usually love on Law & Order, but becomes tedious reading word for word, motion for motion, objection for objection.

I enjoyed this novel. It’s my first Steve Martini book and I really like his Grisham-like writing style. This story is full of interesting facts and details about forensics and ballistics and how they are used in the criminal prosecution process. Good dialogue and character development. Recommend this one.

Steve Martini is an exceptional writer. He knows just how to pull in the reader and keep them coming back for more. His plots are intricate and interesting, and don't fit the typical mold. Which is why I was nearly done with the book before I realized I must have read it before! I had no sense of deja vu until very late in the book - that's how good Martini is!

I enjoyed it (again)!
