5 STARS!
Wow! That was an intense book that I hard a hard time putting down. I don't know what took me so long to pick up this book, but I am really glad I did. This was like a modern day Sherlock Holmes. At first I was worried that I wouldn't like Lincoln Rhyme and wasn't sure how this would work out, but I loved the interaction between Rhyme and Amelia (she was his legs). In the beginning the forensic information was close to overload, but about 1/3 of the way through, it got less technical and much more enjoyable. The twist was quite good and unexpected. Overall, I found another great crime-fiction series that I can't wait to continue.

Everyone was right... the book is waaaaay better than the movie. I adored the characters very much. All of the down-to-earth in their own sort of way, including Lincoln. I don't know how Deaver did it, but you really feel what it's like to be his character; all trials and tribulations. I do have to admit that, after watching the movie, I believe that Denzel and Angelina played their characters very well.

The novel isn't just fast-paced, it's lightening speed! Hell, you get as much sleep as the characters do in a 24 hour period, LMAO! So many twists, turns, suspense and action, you can't help reading it until waaay after the midnight hour. What I loved about this book is the details! Whether it's the crime scene, evidence or the cop lingo (terminology of forensics)... everything is well put together, and you don't miss a beat. Snap, snap, snap, one thing right after another. This is one of the best novels I've read. Can't wait to read more of Deaver's work!

It was interesting to read this book for the first time so many years after I first watched the movie. It was hard to get Denzel, Angelina, and Queen Latifah out of my head.

This book was fascinating as it detailed the minutiae of crime scene investigation, and since that would’ve been my dream job if not for all the science involved, I was here for it.

Overall, I actually enjoyed the movie more than the book, which NEVER happens. The crime scene investigating minutiae went on a little too long.

I also found some of the law enforcement situations to be insanely unrealistic. An example would be Amelia forcing the EMT to enter an uncleared building, potentially with a serial killer still inside, then hands him her gun and tells him to cover her. If I were that EMT I would say, “Girl, you’re crazy!”

There are some gory scenes in here that aren’t for the faint of heart, just FYI.

Great book! I would have finished it last night but the battery on my kindle died. Lincoln and Amelia are a good team.

At the beginning of this book, I wondered if it would really be possible for Deaver to take a quadraplegic who is planning suicide and make him into a credible main character. I'm still not sure how he accomplished it, but Lincoln Rhyme turned out to be a great hero. I really liked his character, even when he was grumpy and ill tempered. I enjoyed seeing him open up to others again as he became involved in the investigation. I felt very sympathetic toward him when he showed vulnerability in how others, especially Amelia, received him.

I wasn't too certain of how much I would like Amelia when she was so obviously against helping with Lincoln's investigation and caused it to be taken over by the FBI. In her defense, she was only trying to make certain that she was able to report to her new assignment and had no idea that there would be any repercussions to the investigation. From the beginning, I thought that she was a strong character, and when she turned up with the evidence that the FBI had taken, I began to like her immensely. I enjoyed the dynamics between Lincoln and Amelia and thought that they made a great team.

Several of the minor characters were also very interesting, and I thought the storyline was extremely gripping. The book was action packed and I could not put it down. I found the story to be very suspenseful, and it kept me guessing until the end. I had no idea of the identity of the serial killer until it was revealed. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series, as I can't wait to see what happens to Lincoln and Amelia next.

The Bone Collector is my introduction to Mr. Jeffery Deaver, and it was well worth reading, I wasn't a bit disappointed!

Lincoln Rhyme, was one of the nation's most brilliant criminologist, and a genius in the field of forensics. But after a horrible accident has left him physically crippled and paralyzed completely. Now quadriplegic and no longer wanting to live, Lincoln is about to face a deadly opponent, known only as The Bone Collector (hence the title), a diabolical killer stalking the citizens of New York, who kidnaps and skins his victims right down to the bone, using the bone as his calling card.

The secondary protagonist is Amelia Sachs, a young NYPD detective who teams up with Rhyme and the rest of his Forensics group. Amelia is Rhyme's eyes, taking prints and searching the dead victims for clues to track down their killer.

Seeing the movie with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie made me want to read this book in the worst way, (I'm a big fan of Denzel)!

I love Deaver's style of writing, his descriptions, the eerie setting, and his talk about forensic science. Highly recommended.

The 1st book in the excellent Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver.
I had already watched the film previously but this did not detract from the book.

Scary and suspenseful. If you saw the movie, disregard it and read the book which is SO much better. This is one I recommend to all of my friends!
