On what I had read on Guts it was an interesting way for someone to do an autobiography. Now his life was quite an extra ordinary life, and is well written out and I am surprised on what he had gone threw. In his life and to think he was attacked by three or four moose in his life and to think that he practically survived his childhood fending for himself and he did fairly well.
So for me I think it is well needed and well done but there are a few spelling errors in the book. So are they major, no but could it be executed better, yes but he's only human after all. So you can't blame the man. And to write this many books and do so well, is quite impressive and for him to be a ambulance volunteer and have to see people die would be so hard if you think about it. and all the dog sledding trips he went on is crazy and when he had to throw all those dog that many time is absolutely insane.

If you like Paulsen's Hatchet and the other Brian stories, you should read this book! The author offers dozens of fascinating stories about his life experiences and the events he bore witness to that made their way into his writing.

This was an excellent recounting of Mr. Paulsen's personal experiences. Well written. I've always liked the author's style of story telling. I was surprised that my wife enjoyed it as much as I did. You just never know when something will click for another person.

It was interesting to read about the experiences/adventures of Gary Paulsen, in his own voice, which led to the experiences of Brian in "Hatchet". Paulson has led an interesting life, filled with adventure and danger, just the way he wants it.

Gary Paulsen was my favorite author as a kid. I probably read everything he wrote. I liked reading this book and learning more about his life and how he based Brian off of his real life experiences. Hatchet is my favorite book and now I need to go re-read it!

A perfect way to finish a book series. The author went over some of the events from his book Hatchet, what inspired them, while adding his own personal adventures.

This is a must read for his fans.

A nonfiction account of events in Paulsen's life that lead to storylines in Hatchet, including plane crashes, moose encounters, and various hunting expeditions.

An interesting read that would be a great companion read to Hatchet or for Paulsen fans.

Our overall impression of Guts was that it was very educational and mature. I would absolutely recommend this book to anybody who is curious about how Hatchet was made. Any nature lovers or mature readers, such as high schoolers, are likely to love Guts and all it has to offer.

Gary Paulsen is a great writer, as well as a smart man who has learned the arts of survival and hunting by practice. His time living in the wild prepared him for the books he wrote. This book is a great read with an excellent educational value.

Man behind the legend

Fascinating retelling of Paulsen's experiences. The method of weaving his practical knowledge of hunting and dog sledding into his books is what sets him apart from other writers. Great book, but the organization was a mess.
