This book was a delightful portrayal of the political climate in Washington DC. Much of it reminded me of current events. Politicians were using a young author's book currently being published to discredit the sitting President who was seeking a second term. This book had a lot of action--2 murders and several persons trying to obtain the tapes on which the book had been based. The author disappeared for a while to avoid reporters and persons attempting to steal the tapes. Mac and Annabel had some involvement in the mystery as in other books in the series.

This book is a little dated. There are lots of parts to the plot which involves political intrigue. I wish the ending had been a little more fleshed out.

It’s a murder mystery set in DC that also name checks my favorite Mexican place for rooftop dining & margaritas (even 20 years later), so yeah, I dug it.

I couldn't believe that I disliked this book so much. So implausible and scary - if you think about how politicians know they can get away with just about anything.

Well, finally I have read a murder mystery by Margaret Truman. I should have saved myself the trouble but I was "between books" and it was either this one or a long hard non-fiction spy book. Should have chosen the hard non-fiction. This book just kept stumbling on and on and on and had a ridiculous false choice between "politics is a game" and "politics should not be a game." I just finished reading a couple of bios of Margaret Truman and learned that her spate of mysteries "at" various Washington locales were ghostwritten by two different ghostwriters. That wouldn't necessarily lead to bad writing but, in at least this one case, and, according to other reviews, in Margaret Truman's case did.

This is a book in which the "good guys/gals" did the "right thing" and I didn't care. Fox was Fox and I didn't care. The Dems were the good guys and the GOP were the bad guys and I didn't care. The book was DONE and I cared. I was v v glad.

not as compelling as most of the books in the Capital Crimes' series has been. Main characters were a little dull & undeveloped resulting in my apathy about their fates. Only 1 character did I care about a little bit - i hated the father. The murder mystery itself & the political intrigue were also a little flat. In general I have read almost all of the Capital Crimes & the earliest or maybe the 1st half or so were really good or great & the second half not so much.

It's an OK mystery - not a great one. I was disappointed at the ending. Easy read and somewhat entertaining. If you want something quick for a lazy weekend, this might be a good choice.
