Fun read by someone who could lovingly debunk the possibilities raised in Star Trek, while still paying homage to the creativity and imagination of those who wrote for it. And I think maybe I understand Einstein’s theory of special relativity now. Maybe.

Un llibre de divulgació coentífica molt entretingut i instructiu. Pels trekkies és una joia! un repàs força complet de la física de la sèrie, tant pels encerts (que n’hi ha molts) com pels errors.
Pels que no són seguidors de Star Trek també por ser un llibre interessant, ja que l’autor descriu molt bé les escenes de la sèrie.
En definitiva, és un bon llibre de divulgació científica a partir d’una de les millors sagues de ciència ficció de la història!

There's an interesting discussion of the physics of transporter beams in section 23.9 of Penrose's n  The Road to Realityn. Among other things, Penrose points out that teleportation is, in principle, achievable by sufficiently ingenious use of quantum entanglement. It requires, however, that the original is destroyed, since an ability to create perfect copies would violate Heisenberg Uncertainty: by creating enough copies, you could pin down the quantum state as accurately as you wanted, an impossibility.

Is any of this discussed in Krauss's book? I'm curious.
