Absolutely the most comprehensive leadership book I've ever read. Packed with insightful practical tips for becoming a better leader, this is a must-have for anyone who finds himself in a leadership role or anticipates doing so. Will be re-reading this time and again.

Great, simple, and "sticky" model of leadership that should be thought of as a more accessible and actionable model of transformational leadership. It correlates almost perfectly with Riggio & Bass's framework, but drops the laissez-faire and transactional elements of "full range leadership" and instead focuses on transformational behaviors. I would give the book itself more stars if it were not so fixated on C-suite leaders in private sector organizations. The authors talk about leadership being everywhere and how leadership is everyone's business, yet fall back on examples of hierarchical (and private sector) leadership only. If they were to profile a much wider range of leaders from all sectors and all different levels within hierarchies, that would be much better, in my view.

A good overview of solid management practices, but nothing new
I appreciate that this book has a reasonably complete list of our best, proven management practices, such as leading by example (be present even if you are not directly building the product), be fully authentic, be supportive to the extent of fighting for your teams and what you believe in and proclaim (don't just repeat the corporate message if you are not fully invested in it), empower your teams, coach and mentor rather than dictate, listen first, ask probing and leading questions rather than offer solutions, and the list goes on. Great stuff!

If you are new to leadership or have not read or studied leadership, then this book (I read the 5th edition) is a great place to start. If you have studied leadership, then this is a good review but may not have anything new for you.
