Another dangerous mission for John Rain. Although, his missions usually go pretty smoothly, I wasn’t expecting the end fight to be so tough. I very much liked that the author made Rain’s adversary just a tough as he is. The introduction of the other assassins was very cool too. I hope to read more stories that include them both.

Rain is awesome. PERIOD. He knows everyplace he travels, intimately. The action scenes are just as exciting as the interaction with Dox in this Rain edition. Rain definitely adds to my likeness of the book. Well blended front to back!

Just Perfect

A more gentle & meandering story than normal. A story of transition. New connections and old one’s cemented. The introduction of Delilah a Mossad Agent & Dox, a Marine sniper. A CIA handler of dubious intrigue called Hiliger. The stage is set.

This is the 'how many necks can the protagonist break?' book.

Drink every time he does!

Also, his spy techniques are a bit dated. He is still (for example) leaving a hair on the door. This is called a 'tell tale'. Of course, a hair is not the thing for leaving when you want to avoid DNA.

And the knowledge of bombs is limited to trip wires. As opposed to lasers which set off the bomb when the door is open.

This book would have been more current in the '80's.

And the protagonist is way way too horny for an assassin. Is he trying to be the next Bond?

This is probably not my favorite Barry Eisler novel, but he has a very good narrator’s voice….pretty sexy. For the first 2/3 of the book I didn’t really LIKE any of the characters, except the beautiful blonde Mossad agent. Things started to fall into place and I remembered The Dox character from novels down the road. His “voice” is excellent and charming and I want him to be a good guy. He proves himself to John Rains by the end, so then, I really liked three characters.

Ah, I love to follow authors. John Rain is like popcorn for the eyes....easy to get lost in the box and suddenly find it's over and looking for more. I enjoy the protagonist and want to see where he goes from here.

Good enough but not as good as other books

Didn't feel as good as the other books for me. But enjoyed it nevertheless.

The audio narrator for all his books is good.

Winner Take All. Barry Eisler

An Algerian arms trader. An extremely dangerous man. A Mossad operative, Delilah. John Rain initially doesn't know what to make of her. Is she eye candy a companion of the arms trader or something else entirely? Then there's Dox a brother in arms from the middle east. An extremely talented Marine sniper and extremely competent martial arts practitioner. Solid. A good man.In the end a good and trusted friend. A throwback to another era. Someone who has your back. What ensues is an extremely powerful and fast paced story paced with deceit, betrayal and a binding between operatives. An excellent read!!!Enjoyed immensely!!

I am becoming a big fan of Barry Eisler's "John Rain" thrillers. Eisler's writing style is exquisite, his characters are credible, and the plot sequences are engaging and action-packed. I found myself looking forward to reading several chapters each evening and it never disappointed me. I am certainly going to continue with this series and, most probably, with other Eisler titles.
