Another knock out novel!!

Really, this is turning customary: success after success, after another success...
I love John Rain, and now Dox.
I'm not so sure about Delilah. She goes to John, and suddenly abandons him because of her job. (From Paris is a bitch.)
That's not conducts to love in my mind.
But, this novel is positive. It's amazing, awesome, moving...
THANK YOU, MR. EISLER.

It is hard to fully embrace somebody who is a killer. Somebody who can snap necks is a bit gruesome. He certainly not somebody you'd want as a friend :-) yet you do kind of root for him. Sadly not all of the people he kills are outright bad guys. Some are perhaps just doing their job, some are maybe just more hired. Thugs, but I don't think that means you deserve to die. But another good story in this series

I'm hooked...

This is not a genre I've really ever read before...more of a Cold War/Soviet history guy...but I've stayed with this series now for 3 books and will finish the rest. Enjoying the character development and the story arc. Whether or not this is a "good" book or series I'm not knowledgeable enough to critique but I'm enjoying the hell outta it! I would love a Netflix series of Rain!

I've got to like John Rain. He's a stone cold killer - assassinating someone never ruins his day. The broken necks are many, the martial arts skills thoroughly honed. But the true skill demonstrated here is how Eisler is able to develop Rain into a sympathetic character, one who appreciated good Scotch Whiskey, who loves jazz and who is thoughtful and caring in his relationships with women. It probably shouldn't work but it does.

I can't get too excited about the story this time around - I drifted off rather when the rationale for the 'hit' was being discussed. It's all rather confusing and, I think, secondary to the real value of reading these books. The strength is in watching Eisler develop Rain into fully three-dimensial character, filling gaps in our knowledge of him and providing insight into his motivations and his life ambitions. These sections are brilliantly crafted and I found myself wanting to know more and more about this complex man.

The action sequences, too, are very well written. There is a lot of martial arts language (none of which I understood) but the action feels real - brutally so.

I will return to the series because I want - no, I need to - know what happens to John Rain.

The third installment of the John Rain series. This book has some interesting character development. Delilah is introduced as a strong and capable friend/opponent. Dox has an interesting arc that hooefuy develops more. Kanezaki is becoming a strong character as he gains knowledge and experience. His interactions with Rain are becoming better and more enjoyable.
All-in-all, I give this 3.5 stars. Good story, excellent action and fight scenes, especially when Rain using unconventional means to neutralize people. Enjoyable and easy reading.

Can't think of anything bad to say about any John Rain novel. This was great as were all the previous. I am planning on reading the whole series and know I will not be disappointed. Barry Eisler is a very good writer and I have enjoyed everything of his that I have read. As always, can't wait for the next!

Working freelance for the CIA, John Rain is targeting an arms dealer in Southeast Asia when he finds himself to be the target.

Back to his meticulous cold-blooded killings just like Book #1, John Rain is a man who trusts no one. Luckily, we are introduced to former Army associate and expert sniper Dox, here to save the day and break the tension just as he does in the Livia Lone series.

Slow moving in the middle of the book, but a dramatic ending.
