I truly relished the majority of the short stories presented within this book. Each story seemed to offer a unique world and set of experiences. However, among them, the story titled "The Devil Wind" stood out as my absolute favorite. It had a certain charm and allure that kept me captivated from the very beginning until the end. The plot was engaging, and the characters were well-developed.

On the other hand, there were some stories that didn't quite meet my expectations. One such example was "Hidden Warriors." I have to admit that I did not like the writing style of this particular story at all. It felt rather disjointed and lacked the smooth flow that I prefer in a narrative. The characters also seemed a bit one-dimensional, and the overall story failed to grip my attention.

Despite this one disappointment, I still found the book as a whole to be quite enjoyable. The variety of stories and the different writing styles on display made it an interesting read. I would definitely recommend this book to others who enjoy short stories and are looking for something new and diverse to explore.

I really enjoyed reading these stories.

Each story had its own unique charm and appeal.

Some of them captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until the end.

I found myself completely immersed in the plot and the characters.

These stories had the power to make me feel a wide range of emotions, from excitement and joy to sadness and empathy.

On the other hand, there were also some stories that didn't quite resonate with me as much.

Maybe the plot was a bit too predictable or the characters didn't seem as developed.

However, overall, I still had a great time reading through all of them.

It was interesting to see the different styles and themes that the authors had chosen.

I look forward to reading more stories in the future and seeing what new adventures and experiences they will bring.

Pretty good!

Obviously, in any collection of short stories, there are some winners and... not winners. However, this one was more good than bad.

There weren't any stories that were completely unreadable, and only a few that I didn't particularly like.

I discovered several authors I had never read before. Based on what they wrote for Young Warriors, I definitely want to look for their works at the library, which is really great.

Although the intended audience is more teens than younger children, I was able to recommend a couple of the stories to my 10-year-old daughter. Last week, when she forgot to bring a book of her own to a waiting room, I gave her one of the stories from this collection. She read "The Boy Who Called 'Dragon'" and really enjoyed it.

This shows that the stories in this collection have a certain appeal across different age groups within the target range.

Overall, it's a collection that I would recommend to others who are interested in short stories for teens.

This is a remarkable collection of short stories.

Each story showcases a teenage "warrior," where the meaning of this term varies within the context of each individual narrative.

The collection is a captivating blend of tales that explore the lives of kids from diverse cultures. In fact, it seems as if Pierce made a deliberate effort to seek out non-European stories, which adds a unique and enriching dimension to the collection.

While there were two stories that didn't quite capture my full attention, especially the last one, on the whole, this is an extremely solid collection.

The stories are well-written, engaging, and offer valuable insights into the experiences and challenges faced by teenagers in different parts of the world.

Highly recommended for readers who enjoy diverse and thought-provoking literature.

As with all short story collections, there was a diverse mix of wonderful stories and ones that I didn't enjoy as much.

Some of the tales were truly captivating, drawing me in from the very first sentence and holding my attention until the very end. They were filled with rich characters, engaging plots, and beautiful prose that made me feel as if I was a part of the story itself.

However, there were also a few stories that didn't quite hit the mark for me. Maybe the plot was a bit too predictable, or the characters didn't seem fully developed. But even so, I still found value in reading them, as they added to the overall tapestry of the collection.

Overall, I have to say that I really enjoyed this short story collection. It was a great way to spend my time, and I would definitely recommend it to others who enjoy reading short stories.

Some of the stories in this collection were truly remarkable.

They were either outstanding short stories that captivated the reader from start to finish or they were tales that left one with a sense of longing for more.

These stories had the power to transport the reader to different worlds and make them feel a range of emotions.

However, not all the stories in the collection were as successful.

Some of them were disjointed, lacking a clear narrative flow or structure.

Others seemed to try to cram an excessive amount of legend and lore into too few pages, resulting in a rushed and overwhelming reading experience.

Overall, this is an uneven collection, which is one of the biggest drawbacks of a story collection.

While there are some gems to be found, the inconsistent quality makes it a bit of a hit-or-miss affair.

It would have been better if the editor had been more selective in choosing the stories or if the authors had been more careful in crafting their tales.

Nevertheless, there is still some enjoyment to be had from reading this collection, especially for those who are willing to overlook its flaws and focus on the good.

I really enjoyed the fact that this was a quick anthology.

The stories it contained were easily digestible, not long winded at all.

This made it a great read for those who don't have a lot of time to spare but still want to enjoy some good literature.

However, it should be noted that there were only two stories here that I did not like on any level.

Perhaps it was a matter of personal taste, but for whatever reason, these two stories just didn't resonate with me.

Overall, though, I would still recommend this anthology to others.

The majority of the stories were engaging, well-written, and provided an enjoyable reading experience.

It's a great way to discover new authors and explore different styles of writing.

Whether you're an avid reader or just looking for a quick and easy read, this anthology is definitely worth checking out.

This was a truly remarkable young adult fantasy anthology.

Out of all the stories, only one failed to meet my expectations, while the rest I thoroughly enjoyed.

Although none of them immediately compelled me to rush out and purchase one of the author's novels, I am now seriously contemplating picking up _Nobody's Princess_ by Esther Friesner.

Her short story, "Thunderbolt," focuses on a young Helen of Troy when she was a princess of Sparta.

This portrayal of Helen is by far the least feeble and shallow I have ever encountered.

She is spoiled and headstrong, yet I found myself drawn to her.

I couldn't help but wonder why she would ultimately engineer the Trojan War, as I firmly believe this Helen was not a mere pawn in that conflict.

The novel, it seems, continues Helen's captivating story.

What's more, many of the stories in this anthology bear a strong non-European influence.

One is set in the pre-Colombian Americas, another during the British occupation of India in the 19th century, and a third in an African country during Rome's expansionist era.

These diverse settings add a rich and fascinating dimension to the anthology, making it a truly engaging read for young adult fantasy enthusiasts.

I have a profound love for short stories.

The reason is that they have the ability to convey powerful emotions and tell engaging tales in a concise manner.

This little anthology is truly a gem. Each and every one of the stories within it is not only well written but also highly original.

The authors have managed to bring their unique perspectives and creative ideas to life, captivating the reader from the very first sentence.

It is an absolute must-read for anyone who appreciates good literature.

Whether you are a fan of mystery, romance, or simply a good story, this anthology has something for everyone.

So, don't hesitate to pick it up and embark on a journey through the wonderful world of short stories.

You won't be disappointed!

I had a really difficult time engaging with the characters before the stories ended.

It was extremely frustrating as I felt like I was constantly on the outside looking in.

The characters seemed distant and unrelatable, and I struggled to find any connection with them.

I would try to understand their motives and emotions, but it was like trying to solve a complex puzzle that I just couldn't quite figure out.

This lack of engagement made it hard for me to fully enjoy the stories and left me feeling disappointed.

I wished that there had been more depth and development to the characters, so that I could have truly invested in their journeys.

Maybe then, I wouldn't have had such a difficult time and could have had a more fulfilling reading experience.
