Another enjoyable read.

It was truly a captivating piece that held my attention from start to finish. The story was engaging, filled with interesting characters and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. The author's writing style was smooth and easy to follow, making it a pleasure to read. I found myself completely immersed in the world that the author had created, and I didn't want it to end.

As I turned the pages, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the vivid descriptions and the emotions that the characters were experiencing. It was as if I was right there with them, sharing in their joys and sorrows. The story had a great flow to it, with each chapter building on the previous one and leading to a satisfying conclusion.

Overall, it was an excellent read that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an enjoyable and entertaining book. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

The 2nd book in this sub-series of Feist's Riftwar saga is truly a gem. This entire series is an outstanding example of Epic Fantasy, captivating readers with its rich and immersive world.

Back in 2019, I embarked on a personal challenge to explore older fantasy works. Raymond E. Feist was among the first authors I discovered. I was overjoyed to find a great companion in my fantasy group, Aaron (shout out to you!), who also had a keen interest in reading Feist. This completed book marks our journey to book #15, and we're already at the halfway point!

The beauty of this sub-series lies in its ability to transport us back in time, revealing the youthful days of the characters. We get to uncover the backstories of those we've come to love and hate, which is essential for building a deep connection with them. For me, character relationships and world building are of utmost importance in fantasy, and this series excels in both. Starting from the beginning of Feist's career and witnessing his growth as an author has been a truly wonderful experience.

In my first review of Feist in 2019, I had initially struggled with the first half of the book due to the overwhelming amount of information and the numerous different races introduced. I even questioned if Feist was trying to be like Tolkien and create another Middle Earth. However, in the second half, everything fell into place, and I was completely won over. I stand by that comment today. If you're new to fantasy and渴望a great story, or a die-hard fan of magic and battles, I wholeheartedly recommend this series. Just get through book 1, and I guarantee you'll be in for hours of captivating reading.

This was good, but it could have been so much better.

The premise is the handling of a power vacuum in Krondor's underworld. Early in the book, the dominant mafia figure disappears, murdered by foreign agents, which causes a criminal civil war.

If the author had allowed himself to explore this, the book could have become much better. As it is, it is of average craftsmanship but contains no surprises.

Perhaps the author was too rushed or had other constraints that prevented a more in-depth exploration of this interesting premise.

Nevertheless, the story still has some redeeming qualities. The characters are well-developed, and the action scenes are exciting.

Overall, while this book is not a masterpiece, it is still an enjoyable read for fans of the genre.

This book is not one of his best works, but it is still good.

My reading process was a bit disrupted, so perhaps I missed some details. However, it seemed that the concept of establishing a spy network was repeatedly mentioned as if it were a novel idea.

I continuously thought, "Yes, we have already discussed this. Just move on with the story."

This is not my typical reaction when reading R.E.F. books. Usually, I am more engaged and interested in the plot and characters.

Maybe it was because of the fragmented reading experience that affected my perception of this book.

Nevertheless, I still believe that the author has put in a lot of effort and there are some interesting aspects in the story.

I will probably give it another chance and read it more carefully to see if I can discover more of its merits.

Pretty cool if one must say.

This simple statement holds a certain charm and implies a sense of admiration or approval. It suggests that something is worthy of being described as cool, perhaps due to its unique features, impressive qualities, or simply the way it makes one feel.

When we say something is "pretty cool," we are expressing our subjective opinion, but it also has the potential to resonate with others. It can be used to describe a wide range of things, from a new gadget or a trendy fashion item to a remarkable achievement or an interesting experience.

The phrase "pretty cool" has a casual and laid-back tone, making it suitable for various contexts, whether in everyday conversations, social media posts, or even in more formal writing when used sparingly. It adds a touch of enthusiasm and excitement to our language, allowing us to convey our positive feelings about something in a concise and engaging way.

So, the next time you come across something that catches your eye or makes you smile, don't hesitate to say, "That's pretty cool!" It might just be the perfect way to express your appreciation.

This book truly compensates for the first installment in the Riftwar Legacy series!

It is still set in a period following the Riftwar series, yet prior to the Serpentwar series. Here, we find Squire James and William, Pug's son, serving Prince Arutha in Krondor. The city is on the verge of becoming a war zone with the Mockers, The Crawler and his gang, and the unexpected return of the Nighthawks - the group of assassins that Arutha had believed were safely eradicated.

Raymond Feist has once again reimagined both familiar and new characters, crafted a great storyline, and created a specific time and place that keeps his readers guessing. As layer upon layer of deadly plots are uncovered, much like the onion described in the story. Then, through risk, great courage, and sometimes, sheer crazy intuition, the two young men manage to defuse the plots as they strive to prevent Krondor from exploding from within.

As time progresses, the plots become more intricate, the storyline more convoluted, and even more clues are discovered, leading who knows where - and that's precisely how this book concludes!

I adore how Feist continuously entices his readers to move forward to the next book, and that's exactly what I intend to do!

Addictive

I have to admit that I'm completely addicted to the First World. It's truly an astonishing experience. This is the seventh book of his that I've devoured, and I find myself irresistibly drawn to continue on to the next one in the series. The world he has created is so vivid and captivating that it feels as if I'm actually a part of it. Each character is well-developed and has their own unique charm and story. The plotlines are intricate and full of surprises, keeping me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I can't get enough of it. It's like a drug that I keep coming back for more. I'm eager to see what adventures and challenges await in the next installment. I'm sure it will be just as addictive as the previous ones.

This one is truly a significant improvement over the previous one.

The pacing is excellent, keeping the story flowing at a steady and engaging rhythm. It never feels rushed or拖沓, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the narrative.

The balance within the story is also well achieved. The various elements, such as the plot, character development, and setting, all work together in harmony.

Moreover, the characters are truly enjoyable. They are well-developed, with unique personalities and motives that make them relatable and interesting.

Overall, this piece shows great progress and holds a lot of promise. It has the potential to be an even more outstanding work with further refinement and attention to detail.

I look forward to seeing how it evolves and develops in the future.

It is an enjoyable story. There is a big improvement compared to Krondor: The Betrayal. This is not overly surprising as the Betrayal was somewhat restricted by being based on a computer game. It is truly enjoyable to encounter more of James and Arutha once again. Moreover, getting to see more of William and other interesting characters that were not seen before adds to the charm. The story itself is quite good. It has several twists and turns that keep the readers engaged. However, there are still some unanswered questions remaining at the end. This leaves the readers with a sense of anticipation and curiosity, wondering what might come next in the series. Overall, it is a great read that offers an exciting adventure and a cast of memorable characters.

I really don't understand why Feist would choose to go backwards in the story at this particular point.

At the end of the Serpentwar series, the characters in this book were already old, with children and grandchildren.

Then, this book and the one previous decide to go back in time to when Duke James was still a squire.

This is extremely confusing to me because I have a preference for my epics to be presented in chronological order.

It disrupts the flow and makes it difficult for me to fully engage with the story.

However, aside from this issue of the non-linear narrative, the book was otherwise okay.

The writing was decent, and the plot had its interesting moments.

But the constant jumping back and forth in time really detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story.

I hope that in future installments, Feist will consider presenting the story in a more straightforward and chronological manner.

This series serves as an expansion of Feist's Midkemia world, and seemingly forms the basis for a video game.

I do have an appreciation for the expanded adventures of Jimmy the Hand. However, I firmly believe that the target audience for this book is likely to be the consumers of the video game.

The stories, on the whole, were rather weak. The adventures had a strong resemblance to the quests that one might encounter in a video game.

These books provided a moderate level of entertainment, yet they failed to be as enjoyable as the other Midkemia series. They lacked the depth and complexity that made the original series so captivating.

Perhaps if the stories had been more developed and the characters more fully realized, this series could have been on par with the others. But as it stands, it falls somewhat short.

Nonetheless, for fans of the Midkemia world and the video game, it may still hold some appeal.
